Transportation for Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Since Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is the largest runDisney race weekend, all of the resort hotels are considered host resorts.  This means that no matter where you are staying on property, transportation will be provided to and from all race related events.  Look for these signs to direct you to where the event transportation will be located:

Event-Transportation

Transportation will be by bus, except from the monorail resorts (Contemporary, Grand Floridian & Polynesian) where runners and spectators will take the monorail to Epcot for the races.  Separate event transportation is provided for the following events:

If going to the Pasta in the Park Party in Epcot or the Cool Down Party in Downtown Disney, you can utilize regular Walt Disney World Transportation.

If you are not staying at a Walt Disney World resort, you will need to provide your own transportation.  Make sure to leave PLENTY of time to get to you destination, especially for the half and full marathons.  I have seen terrible traffic on the mornings of those races and heard horror stories of people being stuck for hours.  Don’t let that be you!

New this year, Disney is restricting runners from accessing the start corrals for the half and full marathons from Bonnet Creek Parkway or Buena Vista Drive.  This has been a trick many runners use who are staying at Port Orleans, Old Key West or Saratoga Spring Resorts over the years to get more hours of sleep and not deal with the transportation issues.  Unfortunately this year runDisney has stated that you will be subject to disqualification if you enter the corrals from any other area than the Epcot parking lot.  So get to bed early and get on the provided transportation!
