Being of Irish heritage, it should come to no surprise that St. Patrick’s Day is my favorite holiday! I love the food, the music, the drink, the festivities ..all of it! Hence why I am super bummed that I’ve been fighting a cold for the past few days and haven’t been able to celebrate. So I will be laying low today and maybe I will make my favorite Guinness & Bailey’s Buttercream cupcakes if I’m feeling up to it later 🙂
Thankfully I attended the New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade last Sunday and got my Irish on. My girlfriends from CrossFit and I headed in by train and were immediately greeted to the drunk crowds. I was quite the scene leaving the New Haven train station.
We went to a few bars and caught a bit of the parade, but mainly we were entertained by the craziness that was taking place.
Overall we had a great time and a lot of laughs!

Fingers crossed this cold goes away soon…I seriously hate being sick. I missed out on some really great WODs last week because of it. Yes, I’m having a pity party…
It’s also no secret that I’ve really been lacking the running front. I can blame it on the weather, my schedule, whatever…but what it really comes down to is my continued battle with motivation. It is so hard for me to get out of bed early or put my laptop down and put my sneakers on. I know how great I feel after a run, but I know that actually running isn’t my favorite thing in the world. It’s hard, it’s grueling, it’s painful at times and so often those things are what come in the forefront of my mind, not the feelings of exhilaration, accomplishment and strength that come AFTER a run.
I’m hoping that with spring right around the corner and now that the days are getting longer, I will have a renewed motivation to get out there. I struggle with the winter months and just wanting to hibernate in my house, so I am hopeful those extra hours of sunlight will give me the boost I need!
