RAD Reads and Weekly Review: March 3, 2013

2013 Princess MedalHalf marathon #4 complete!  Running Disney’s Princess Half Marathon for the 2nd time last weekend was another one of those amazing runDisney experiences that I will never forget!  My full report is coming up this week, but as you can see I posted a lot of mini-recaps on RAD already.

Last Saturday I also had a RAD Princess Meet Up that was SO MUCH FUN!  Big thanks to everyone that came out.  It was great to meet so many fellow runners and Disney fans.  I’m beyond humbled by the turnout and can’t tell you how much your support means to me!  Let’s do another one for the Disneyland Half Marathon!

Meals and Miles played hooky and had a great solo day in Walt Disney World.

Weekly Review
Since I’ve gotten back from Disney, I’ve been in a serious fitness funk.  runDisney race season is basically over until August (with the exception of Expedition Everest) and I think I’m already going through withdrawal.  I managed to squeeze in a couple of workouts but I skipped out on a few days of CrossFit that I shouldn’t have.

I did take my new Saucony Virratas for a 3 mile test run this weekend.  I’ll have a full review this week, but right now I’m not sure I’m ready for the minimalist movement.  They sure are cute though!

Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: CrossFit – 1 hour – AMRAPs
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 3.33 mile run

I have to get my ass back in gear this week!  I’m hoping to commit to at least 3 days of CrossFit and a 4-5 mile run next weekend.  I don’t have any races planned in the near future, but I’m thinking of finding a 10K for early spring.  Anyone know of a good race in the Northeast?

  • There is a 10K in Princeton on June 3. If you want to stretch it to a half-marathon, the Superhero is on May 19 in Morris Township, NJ. There is an option to split the Superhero and share it with a friend (each doing about half of the half). If you want to do it that way, I’d be interested in sharing it with you.

    • Princeton is beautiful! I’m sure that’s a nice race…
      May 19th might be tough for me, but I’m going to look at that race as well. I’ll let you know 🙂

      • Thanks! I keep holding off on hitting the register button. With the D3 coming up at the end of summer, i want to rest my legs now. I just don’t feel up for training for another half marathon, but the race looks like so much fun!

  • The Hershey 10k is 4/14 and the NWM1/2 in DC is 4/28 (only able to sign up through Team in Training at this point).

  • I’ve been meaning to tell you I really like your weekly reads posts, I always find a new blogger to check out or an interesting article…thanks for sharing!

    Also, if you’re planning on doing any races in CT this spring / summer let me know! I’m in the area a lot and would love to get together for a race! (And I’ve never actually done a 10k race so if you find one that would be perfect!)

    • YAY! I’m glad you are enjoying it! I started it for that reason…there are so many amazing bloggers out there and we need to support each other. Plus, I would find all of these great things each week and felt like I need to share the info!

      Not sure what races I’m doing yet, but I will definitely let you know. But I have to say, I’m a little scared to run with you…you’re fast!
