RAD Reads and Weekly Review: February 10, 2013

So last week, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring and this week we got 3 feet of snow.  I knew groundhogs didn’t know anything about weather!  We’re still officially snowed in here in CT.  Plows haven’t come anywhere near our street and I don’t think our Mini Cooper will make it through those 3 feet of snow.  But that’s fine with me, I made some delicious chili and have been spending some good quality time with B and the cats.  🙂

Running & Fitness Posts
Disney Every Day shares the incredibly heart warming story of running with her 14-year old daughter in her first half marathon.  Amanda is putting out a ton of thoughtful and inspiring posts lately!

Fit2Flex get’s a bit of inspiration from her mom.  I love, love, love this story!

Gabby’s Gluten Free reflects on her experience with Whole30.  She covers the good and the bad of the program and makes me think twice about trying it…

Journey of a Dreamer had an AMAZING experience taking the CrossFit Level 1 Certification Course…really inspired me to go for mine!

Disney Posts
This Happy Place Blog celebrates her birthday (Happy Birthday Estelle!!!!) by living out her dream day in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Sadly she didn’t get to meet the Muppets 🙁

The Disney Food Blog takes a tour of the newly refurbished Hurricane Hanna’s.  What I wouldn’t give to be there with a margarita right now!  DFB also reported on a new offering at Raglan Road, Host the Roast.  I’m thinking this might be fab for after the Princess Half!

Mouse on the Mind looks at the coolest places in WDW you’ve never been…because you can’t go there.

Imagineering Disney takes a look at what remains of the 1964-65 World’s Fair.  This is super cool and might make me take a trip back to Queens…maybe.

Weekly Review
This was a testing week at my box and I was happy to get a 5# PR in the close grip bench press.  I managed to press 88# which is quite unbelievable for me.  Unfortunately I missed thrusters and power cleans because I really think I could be close to 100# on those.  I’m hoping that dead lifts will be next week and I can get over 200#!  That would be pure awesome!

Running has been out due to seriously cold temps and snow.  I’ve been really working on my endurance at CrossFit with the Air Dyne and rower so I’m not too concerned for the Princess Half Marathon, but I should get a few more training runs in.  Looks like I’m treadmill bound…ugh.

Monday: Rest
Tuesday: CrossFit – 1 hour – Arms, arms and more arms!
Wednesday: CrossFit – 1 hour – 5 x 4 min AMRAPs
Thursday: CrossFit – 1 hour – Push Press, Row, Air Dyne & 5 min cumulative plank
Friday: 1:07 min plank
Saturday: 2 hours of shoveling + 1:10 min plank

Overall, I’m feeling strong…really strong.  Even hubs commented that my butt looks tighter yesterday (TMI??)…all those squats are paying off!  I’m ready to tackle Princess head on and show that race what I’m made of!!
