RAD Reads & Weekly Review: January 6, 2013

Happy New Year!!  I hope you all had a fun and safe new year celebration and are enjoying 2013 so far.

The Walt Disney World Marathon is only one week away…how did this get here so fast?!?!  It seems like just yesterday when I signed up back in June.  The closer it gets, the more excited I’m getting.  I’ve devised a nutrition plan for the race, studied the course so I know what to expect every mile, and I’ve started putting my packing list together.  Even though I haven’t been putting in all the miles I should’ve, I’m feeling pretty good about the race.

If you are traveling down to Walt Disney World for Marathon Weekend, hopefully you’re getting ready and excited as well.  If you need some help on what to bring for the big day, my friend Amanda from Disney Every Day put together this great video about training and race gear.  Check it out:

Now on to a few RAD Reads from this week!

Weekly Review
It’s been a great week in CrossFit and a not so great week of running training, but what’s new.  Yesterday I had the opportunity to participate in a CrossFit Fundraiser for the Sandy Hook Elementary School Victims and it was amazing to see the community come together.  I’ve been making a point to eat better this week and drink a lot of water to get my body ready for the marathon.  Sleep is much better these days since stopping the steroids and I’m starting to feel like myself again.  Finally!

Here’s my full week of workouts and to see my full WODs, head over to my page on dailymile.

Sunday: Rest
Monday: CrossFit – 1 hour – Weighted Lunge, Thrusters, KB Swings & Burpees
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: CrossFit – 1 hour – Amraps
Thursday: CrossFit – 1 hour – Dead Lifts & Air Dyne
Friday: Rest
Saturday: CrossFit – 10 minute amrap – Thrusters, Burpees & KB Swings

Depending on the WODs, I will be limiting CrossFit this week to keep my legs rested and overall just taking it easy.  Hopefully I’ll have some good news to report next week and I’m hoping you will too.  Since I am will only experience running the full marathon, I’m looking for a few guests post for the other races!  If you are interested in writing about Marathon Weekend or Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend, email me at sarah@runningatdisney.com.

I’m not planning any formal meets next weekend because my schedule is already very hectic, but I would love to meet up with as many of you as possible, so make sure to drop me a line while you’re down there.  And always you can follow me on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram for all updates and some fun race photos!

Good luck to everyone racing!!
