RAD Reads and Weekly Review: November 25, 2012

Thanksgiving week is is the best.  Short work week, time with family, and a whole lot of cuddle time with my kitties.  Can’t get better than that 🙂  I had a lot to be thankful for this year and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving feast at my Dad’s, which I am now trying to recover from because I ate WAY too much.  While many people are out fighting for good deals (have you seen this??) or decorating their house for the holidays this weekend, I’m trying to get focused for the WDW Marathon.  It’s not an easy task, but I’m getting there.

I know I’m late on posting my Wine & Dine race recap, but I promise it will be up in the next few days.  If you’re looking for a recap of the race in the meantime, there are some great ones out there by We Run Disney, Live, Run, Grow, RunningToward the Prize, Running With SassDisney Every Day, and Kimberly Michelle.

The Wannabe Athlete had a great time spectating at the 2012 Women’s Half Marathon.  Also, big congrats to Callie and her family as they welcomed a baby girl on Thanksgiving!

The Misadventures of a Darwinian Fail courageously shares her Weight Evolution, one of the best stories on the subject I’ve ever read.

Gabby’s Gluten Free has great tips on how to stay healthy during the holidays, including 5 moves in 5 minutes from the new FitFluential #MOVES YouTube Channel!

Pop Fit Life takes a look back at her Running Story…it’s a fun one!

Kimberley Michelle‘s daughter Miss L had her first “real” race at the Kid’s Races over Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.  This may be the cutest running post ever!

Disney Posts
This Happy Place Blog gets nostalgic for Cranium Command with the most memorable quotes from this extinct, yet still beloved Epcot show.  Now, “Let’s have a safe and sane day!”

Gluten Free and Dairy Free in WDW shares a great review of Be Our Guest Restaurant in New Fantasyland.  There are great tips in here for gluten free menu choices that I’m going to keep in my back pocket when I eat there in January!

DaMouse pays a visit to the the brand new show The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  And as usual, there are great photos of the show!

Weekly Review
Well the goal this week was to get out there and pick up on my running, but that didn’t happen.  I even brought my running gear to my Dad’s over Thanksgiving, but I never went out.  I’m hoping for 17 miles today, so we will see how that goes.  

I did have some great WODs in CrossFit this week though and I’m starting to work towards getting a pull up.  This is something that I’m not even progressing with, which is frustrating because I’m progressing in most everything else.  I spoke to one of my coaches and he told me that it is going to take some time, but I can certainly work up to it.  I am now making friends with the Gravitron, which is for weight assisted pull ups.  I’m currently at 120# and doing 3 sets of 10 with planks in between sets each time I’m at the box.  I’m hoping to work my way down in weight and soon get to a band assisted pull up.  Unassisted pull ups are quite a ways away, but I’m hoping for 6 months.  I’ll let you know how it goes 😉

Tuesday: CrossFit – 1 hour – Power Cleans, Romanian Dead Lifts, Bench Press, Push-ups & Sit-ups
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Thanksgiving Eating Marathon 😉
Friday: CrossFit – 1 hour – Hang Cleans, Rowing & Dead Lifts
Saturday: Rest
