I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I love the Health & Fitness Expos during runDisney weekends! It’s such a great way to kick off a race weekend in Walt Disney World! For the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, the Expo ran from Friday morning until early afternoon on Saturday. All runners must attend the Expo to pick up their race packet and commemorative shirt whether they are running in the 5K, half marathon or kids races.
For the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend Expo, Amanda and I took a trip to the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in the early afternoon on Friday. This was after the runDisney Meet Up and a DELICIOUS breakfast at Kouzzina. (Check out Amanda’s review here.) My friend Jenn from Eat, Sleep, Run, Disney has been raving about the Bloody Mary’s there and it was about time I tried one! Ok, enough of the food talk..let’s talk expo!
When we arrived, we headed straight to the HP Field House where packet pickup was located. For the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler, packet pickup was located in the Jostens Center with the exhibitors, but for larger races like this, the two areas are separated. I was very happy to see that they had a merchandise booth set up in the packet pickup area. It was really large and allowed for much more pleasant shopping experience. Of course I headed here first 🙂
Of course I had to grab the event pin and BondiBand…I LOVE my BondiBands! I also picked up a Wine & Dine Half Marathon pint glass, which is my new favorite commemorative item. I got my first one for Tower of Terror and I hope they keep making them for all the races!
I wasn’t in love with any of the shirts or jackets they had. They were either too sparkly or to pink for me. Plus, there still weren’t any tanks…what up with that??
Next was packet pickup. The lines weren’t very long so we were in and out fairly quickly.
In order to get your clear bag to use for bag check and your commemorative t-shirt, you have to visit the expo hall in the Jostens Center, so we headed over there. We saw some pretty awesome marathon tattoos along the way and I also found the PERFECT sized champagne glass.
This expo was MUCH larger than the Tower of Terror with many more vendors. I could’ve spent hours there, but thankfully my meet up was that afternoon so I didn’t break the bank!
We got our shirts, checked out some vendors and then stopped to see the “Diet Diva” Tara Gidus speak for a while on nutrition for runners.
One last thing I wanted to do at the Expo was check out the new 5th Anniversary Princess Half Marathon medal! It was much more impressive in person and much bigger than I thought it would be. I can’t wait to get this in February! They also had the Mickey and Minnie Mouse Royal Family 5K medallion, which is really cute.
The Expo was great and I just wish I had more time to spend there. For the WDW Marathon weekend in January, I want to plan a whole afternoon around the Expo so I can hear all of the great speakers.
Oh and one last thing…as we headed back to the car, I found my perfect vehicle 🙂
Were you at the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Health & Fitness Expo? What was your favorite part?
