Tonight I’m starting to pack for my trip to Disney and the Princess Half Marathon. I have an insanely long packing list (way too long for a 3 night trip) and I’m terrified I’m going to forget something I need for the race. So here is my packing list for the 5K and the Half…I’ll spare you all the other things:
Black capris (5K) & black shorts (half)
- Pink (5K) & purple (half) UA tanks
- 2 sports bras
- 2 pairs of running undies
- 2 pairs of Balga socks
- Brooks running sneakers
- Short sleeve hoodie (5K)
- Long sleeve throw away (half)
- 2 Headbands
- Barettes
- Fuel belts (yes I have 2)
- Gu
- Cliff bars
- Garmin with charger
- Wrist sweat bands
So what am I missing? Am I overlooking anything? My wonderful friend Amanda is going grocery shopping on Friday before I arrive to pick up some pre and post race food necessities, which I’m indebted to her for. So I think I have the nutrition aspect covered. But what else?!?
On a side note, my physical therapy is working wonders for my psoas tendonitis. After each session, the pain significantly decreases. So much so that today, I had very minimal pain and I was walking pretty normal. How exciting! I’m going again tomorrow for the last time before the race weekend and I’m hoping to be close to pain free. Now the race might set me back in my healing, but that’s ok with me as long as I finish. I’m willing to put in the healing time after the race. All I know is that my physical therapist Will is a miracle worker!!
So happy packing to all you Princesses out there and please share your packing tips below!
Band aids? My list looks about the same, I also have 2 fuel belts, haha! I’m so freaking ready to do this!
Band aids!! Good call! Oh and blister block…can’t forget that.
I’m do excited and ready to do this too!
Biofreeze! Foam roller? Ace bandages? I’ll bring the sunblock! WooHoo!!!
Hairbands (hair ties), sunglasses and/or a hat when sun comes out
oh and a close for running in the rain, since that might happen!
what is a fuel belt? I feel so lost when it comes to all this running stuff even though I’m planning on doing the 5k in September. Good luck and have a great time! Can’t wait to hear how it goes when you get back!
I felt the same way when I first started…there are SO MANY new things you will learn about. Fuel belts are used to carry water, nutrition and anything else you may need during your run. Here is the one I use http://www.nathansports.com/our-products/hydrationnutrition/racespeed-series/swift It only has one bottle and I’ve been thinking of getting one with 2. You probably won’t need this for the 5K because they will have 2 water stops for you. For my shorter runs, I use a small belt that only has a pouch to hold my phone, keys, etc… On longer runs I use both. Let me know if you have any questions about gear…I’m happy to help!
Thanks for the well wishes…I’m very excited!
Thank you ladies for all of the additional ideas! I’m all packed and ready to go. Bring on the #PrincessHalf!!
Don’t forget the Body Glide! You could of course buy it at the expo, but I would certainly not run a half without a head to toe coating of body glide.
Oh and since you’re running in the Princess Marathon, I’d pack or buy a tiara! A ladiy has to play the part after all 🙂
Good luck & have fun!
Body Glide…GREAT tip!
