So last week, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring and this week we got 3 feet of snow. I knew groundhogs didn’t know anything about weather! We’re still officially snowed in here in CT. Plows haven’t come anywhere near our street and I don’t think our Mini Cooper will make it through those 3 feet of snow. But that’s fine with me, I made some delicious chili and have been spending some good quality time with B and the cats. 🙂
It’s been a really fun week on RAD with some great guest posts. I’m so lucky to have some amazing

Disney Every Day shares the incredibly heart warming story of running with her 14-year old daughter in her first half marathon. Amanda is putting out a ton of thoughtful and inspiring posts lately!
Fit2Flex get’s a bit of inspiration from her mom. I love, love, love this story!
Gabby’s Gluten Free reflects on her experience with Whole30. She covers the good and the bad of the program and makes me think twice about trying it…
Journey of a Dreamer had an AMAZING experience taking the CrossFit Level 1 Certification Course…really inspired me to go for mine!
This Happy Place Blog celebrates her birthday (Happy Birthday Estelle!!!!) by living out her dream day in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Sadly she didn’t get to meet the Muppets 🙁
The Disney Food Blog takes a tour of the newly refurbished Hurricane Hanna’s. What I wouldn’t give to be there with a margarita right now! DFB also reported on a new offering at Raglan Road, Host the Roast. I’m thinking this might be fab for after the Princess Half!
Mouse on the Mind looks at the coolest places in WDW you’ve never been…because you can’t go there.
Imagineering Disney takes a look at what remains of the 1964-65 World’s Fair. This is super cool and might make me take a trip back to Queens…maybe.
This was a testing week at my box and I was happy to get a 5# PR in the close grip bench press. I managed to press 88# which is quite unbelievable for me. Unfortunately I missed thrusters and power cleans because I really think I could be close to 100# on those. I’m hoping that dead lifts will be next week and I can get over 200#! That would be pure awesome!
Running has been out due to seriously cold temps and snow. I’ve been really working on my endurance at CrossFit with the Air Dyne and rower so I’m not too concerned for the Princess Half Marathon, but I should get a few more training runs in. Looks like I’m treadmill bound…ugh.
Here’s my full week of workouts and to see my full WODs, head over to my page on dailymile.
Tuesday: CrossFit – 1 hour – Arms, arms and more arms!
Wednesday: CrossFit – 1 hour – 5 x 4 min AMRAPs
Thursday: CrossFit – 1 hour – Push Press, Row, Air Dyne & 5 min cumulative plank
Friday: 1:07 min plank
Saturday: 2 hours of shoveling + 1:10 min plank
Overall, I’m feeling strong…really strong. Even hubs commented that my butt looks tighter yesterday (TMI??)…all those squats are paying off! I’m ready to tackle Princess head on and show that race what I’m made of!!

When I usually think of Nemo, I think of this little guy:
Last night, winter storm Nemo dropped over 30 inches of snow on the Connecticut shoreline and we woke up to a winter wonderland. We also found ourselves completely snowed in and facing the daunting task of digging out!
B and I bundled up and began the dig out around 10:30 am. It was quite the undertaking…
The snow had just stopped, but the wind was killer! It made shoveling difficult because everything you would do would just blow back in your face! Plus the snow was thick, wet and heavy…the worst conditions for shoveling. But I did have time for a little fun 🙂
We pulled out the snow blower for this one, but the snow was so deep that it was having difficulty cutting through it. We had to do a combo of shoveling to break up the snow then snow blowing to get rid of it.
I lasted about 2 hours out there. We were able to make good headway down the pathway to the driveway, around the cars and out to the sidewalk. It was quite the workout! I’m so thankful for CrossFit today 🙂
B continued on to clean the sidewalk with the snowblower and I went inside to make some adult hot chocolate and heat up leftover chocolate chili. It’s a chocolate kind of day. And yes, I said chocolate chili…look for the recipe in an upcoming Friday Feast 🙂
So Nemo sure found us…with a vengeance We’re still snowed in since the plows haven’t come by yet, but I’m fine with that. I have my cats and the pellet stove to keep me cozy and warm!
Did Nemo find you? How did you make out in the storm?

I made it! I’m in Walt Disney World! It was a bit questionable for a while if I would even get here at all. First, we had Hurricane Sandy and were out of power for 6 days. Once I could watch the news again I heard we had a Nor’easter headed our way. Oh great…just what the Northeast needs right now. Plus, this one was bringing snow…I HATE snow.
The snow started at about 10:30 am at my office and came down fast. An hour later, the ground looked like this:
My boss closed the office early so we could all get home safely. I have a 25-mile drive home, so I was very thankful for this. But it wasn’t before I get a text from B that our power had gone out again….SERIOUSLY?!?! We only had power back for less than 3 days and now I had to go home to a cold, dark house and try to pack for my trip the next day, which might get cancelled altogether because of this storm.
Thankfully, the power was restored by 6:00 pm and we were able to get some heat in the house. The cats and I were getting cold. Neala made a bee line for the heat vent in the bathroom where she spends the majority of the winter. I started cheering and clapping in my house and wanted to run out and give the crew a big ole hug, but that probably would’ve been inappropriate.
Now that the power was back, my focus turned to Winter Strom Athena and what the next few hours were going to look like. A few friends already had their flights cancelled for Thursday morning and with mine at 8:30 am, I was getting nervous. JetBlue was still listing the flight as being on time, so I was going with it. B and I went out to get some dinner, which was an interesting drive on snow-covered roads, and I hit the hay by 10:00 pm. A good night sleep was definitely in order after my emotionally stressful day.
The roads were somewhat cleared by the morning, so we got up early and B took me to the airport. Something you may not know about me is that I HATE to fly. It terrifies me. I wrote about this on my first solo flight down to the Princess Half Marathon and now with 2 more trips under my belt since then, I knew I could handle this flight. And guess what I did! We were delayed for about an hour, but I made it with no issues to report. I’m a big girl now! 🙂 Oh and I need to point out what an awesome packer I am…my bag came in at 49.7 pounds, just under the mark where I’d have to pay an overage fee. Guess I can’t take anything home!!
My bestie Amanda was there to meet me at the airport in her Chevy Volt….the quietest car on the planet! We came straight to the World, checked into our hotel and headed to the Food & Wine Festival for lunch. It’s 60 degrees and beautiful down here…perfect running weather for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon. I might never leave!!
It’s such a relief to have just made it down here…let the festivities begin!!
