Registration for the 2016 Princess Half Marathon Weekend Opens at Noon!

2016-Princess-Registration-logoIt’s that time again Princesses!  Sadly your Fairy Godmother won’t be able to help you today, so make sure your credit cards are ready to register for the 2016 Disney’s Princess Half Marathon today at noon EDT!  This magical race weekend will be taking place February 18 – 21, 2016 and will include the Princess 5K, Enchanted 10K, Princess Half Marathon and the Glass Slipper Challenge.  Over 25,000 runners will be taking to the streets of Walt Disney World during this magical race weekend to earn the sparkliest bling in the land.

It looks like official team registrations are no longer an option, however you can purchase commemorative team bibs for family and friends.  You can order any quantity you would like, which is an interesting new twist.  These will be available in the Commemorative Items section of the registration.

As with all runDisney events, participants must stop by the runDisney Health and Fitness Expo to pick up their race bib, t-shirt and spend all your cash on runDisney gear!  The expo runs from February 18 – 20 and will be at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

If you’re looking for the ultimate VIP experience over Princess Weekend, then the Race Retreat may be for you!  For an extra fee ($120 in 2015), you will have access to various pre and post-race amenities, such as a temperature controlled tent, snacks, private bathrooms, changing tents, character meet & greets a commemorative item, massages and more.

There are also various dining events over the weekend that you can attend.  The first event is Breakfast with the Princesses immediately following the 5K on February 19th and the 10K on February 20th.  Here you can enjoy a breakfast buffet with items such as quiche, breakfast burritos, french toast and more, as well as special character meet and greets and photo ops.

Returning for 2 nights again (February 19th & 20th) is the Pasta in the Park Party.  This family oriented event takes place in the World Showplace Pavilion inside Epcot and includes a buffet dinner of pasta (duh!), character meet and greets, and a reserved viewing area for Illuminations.  Pricing for both of these events has not been published yet, but here is the pricing from 2015 to give you and idea:

And let’s not forget the most important part of any race, the spectators!  Generally, there are 4 different ChEAR Squad package levels available and range from a newsletter at no cost to the platinum package that includes entry into the race retreat.  Pricing and package details have not been published yet, but here is the pricing from 2015:

ChEAR Squad

  • Bronze – No Charge per package
  • Silver – $39 per package
  • Gold – $65 per package
  • Platinum – $120 per package

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you’ll know that I LOVE Princess Half Marathon Weekend.  I had to defer my 2015 race registration, which means I am already signed up and ready to go for 2016.  This will be my first big event after having a baby this fall.  I think it will be the perfect motivation to get me up and keep me active!

Registration Opens at Noon for the 2016 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

It’s that time of year again…registration for the 2016 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is upon us.  Let the chaos begin!!

This HUGE race weekend takes place January 6 – 10, 2016 with over 50,000 runners descending upon the Walt Disney World Resort.  This is clearly the ultimate runner’s family vacation.  There is something for everyone!  From the youngest in the family to the Dopiest of runners, you are sure to find an event that fits you and your family.  Registration opens today at noon and you can click here to register for any (or all) of the events.   

Since these race weekends have been selling out in record time (as little as 25 minutes for some!), runDisney has shared some helpful tips for making sure you get into the race you want.  Mainly, be ready at 12:00 pm EST sharp and have everyone in your party register for themselves.

2016 WDW Marathon Registration Tips

Prices for the races have increased anywhere from 3-8% this year, with the exception of the Goofy Race and a Half Challenge and the Kids Races which stayed the same from 2015.  The prices are as follows:

Registration Opens Today for the 2015 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon

Registration opens today at Noon EST for the 2015 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend!  Named as the perfect “Runner’s Night Out,” this race takes you through 3 Walt Disney World parks and ends at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.  How can you go wrong with that?!

All running events take place on Saturday, November 7th beginning with Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K at 7:00 am at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  (Here’s a great review of that race from 2013!)  Later that morning at the New Balance Track & Field Complex, located at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (WWOS), are the Kids Races with the dashes starting at 10:00 am and the 1-mile run at 10:45 am.  And if that’s not enough running for one day, the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon starts at 10:00 pm in the WWOS parking lot.  This nighttime race takes runners through Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and finishes at Epcot…the only Disney Half Marathon to take you through 3 parks…and ends with free beer & wine at the finish!

Other events taking place over the weekend are the Pre-Race Taste and the Finish Line Party.  The Pre-Race Taste is a 1 1/2 hour event on Friday, November 6th located at Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! Theater inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios and features food from the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, entertainment and unique photo opportunities.  The Finish Line Party is a great event for runners and their supporters.  It takes place at Epcot following the Wine & Dine Half Marathon where select attractions including Soarin’, Test Track and Mission: SPACE are open until 4:00 am for those attending the party.  Another added bonus is that all of the Food & Wine Festival kiosks are open during the party to feed your post race hunger!!

The price tag for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon is a bit higher than other Disney races, but it includes a few extra perks.  You get the usual amazing Disney entertainment on the course, a long sleeve tech shirt, and race medal, but also included is admission to the Finish Line Party at Epcot and a $15 gift card (increased from $10 in previous years) to use at the Food & Wine Festival kiosks!

As per usual with runDisney races lately, this is sure to sell out quickly.  Make sure you are at your computer with credit card in hand when the clock strikes noon!  This is such a fun race and I can’t say enough good things about it…well if the weather cooperates. 🙂  Will you be running in 2015?

Registration Opens Today for the 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend!

DL Half LogoRegistration opens today at noon EST for the 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend!!  This magical race weekend will be taking place September 4-6, 2015 and features a 5K, 10K, half marathon and the oh so popular Dumbo Double Dare Challenge!  And don’t forget the Coast to Coast Challenge for all you bi-coastal runners!

This year is the 10th Anniversary of the Disneyland Half Marathon, so you can expect new medal designs and special surprises all throughout the weekend.  On top of that, the Disneyland Resort will be celebrating its Diamond 60th Anniversary!  So many exciting things going on!!

Unlike last year, the price increase for the 2015 races is minimal at 2-3% which is a welcome sight, especially given all of the anniversary celebrations Pricing for the events are as follows:

Registration for the 2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend Opens Tomorrow!

Are you ready to run off to the second star to the right and straight on til morning?  For the fourth year, runners will don their wings and soar through the Disneyland Resort over Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend, but in 2015 the events will take place May 7th – 10th instead of in January, and will include Kids Races, the Never Land 5k, Tinker Bell 10K, Tinker Bell Half Marathon and the all new Pixie Dust Challenge!

Registration for all of the races opens tomorrow at noon EDT and if you want to run you better not only have speedy legs, but fast fingers as well!  This race weekend has notoriously sold out quickly, but now with the addition of the Pixie Dust Challenge it will go even faster!

Similar to the Princess Half Marathon, runners can register as a team if you are going with a bunch of friends.  Runners must register individually for the race and then sign up as a team.  In prior years, teams were limited to two people, but this year you can have as many as you would like for an additional $10 per runner.  Team members will receive a commemorative Team Bib with your team name on it, a commemorative team item, and a team photo at packet pick-up.  Also, instead of being limited to just the half marathon, teams can run in any of the races.

The Tinker Bell Half Marathon Expo will open at 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 7th in the Disneyland Hotel Exhibit Hall and remain open through the 9th.  You must visit the Expo to pick up your race packet and it’s the only place you can get official race merchandise.

If you’re looking for some added Disney fun before the race, the Pasta Party is a great way to get those carbs in.  This family oriented event includes a buffet pasta dinner and various character interactions with photo ops.  The party will take place at Stage 17 located inside Disney California Adventure and requires a park ticket to attend.
