It’s May!!! Bring on the flip flops and shorts!! Ok well just the flip flops right now, but I’ll take it. Look how gorgeous CT is looking!
So I have had a totally bizarro week. Since I’m now working from home, we decided to get some home repairs done. We’ve lived in our home for almost 5 years and have had a portable dishwasher. Look I’m super thankful for having a dishwasher at all, but damn that thing was loud and we could only run it at night when we didn’t have to do anything in the kitchen. So we decided to move some cabinets around and install a dishwasher.
Sounds easy right? Well, the “Kitchen Magician” we hired not only brought a dog in my house without asking, dislodged the sink drain flooding the kitchen and took twice as long as he expected, he ALSO impaled his hand with a chisel which ended in a trip to the hospital and numerous stitches. I seriously felt like I was on Candid Camera. It was one thing after the other…ridiculous.
But all craziness aside, the dishwasher is in and I can’t believe I waited so long. Best thing ever. Well that was until we noticed yesterday that it was leaking into the basement. I mean really?? My basement ceiling now looks like this…
What a mess!! In the grand scheme of life, this was no big deal and I am thankful to even have a dishwasher. However it has been a stressful, albeit comically stressful, kind of week.
Besides all that, some other interesting some stuff happened this week. I was seriously jealous of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train media event this week…weren’t you?!?
But with that event came the confirmation of Trader Sam’s coming to WDW (WOO HOO!) next yeear. I’m so excited about this that I took a trip back to my visit to Trader Sam’s in Disneyland last year to get me pumped up!
Also this week I gave long overdue kudos to those final finishers at runDisney races. If you’ve never stayed until the end of a race, make it a priority next time….it’s pretty amazing.
I’m super excited to announce the beginning of a new weekly series that I will be debuting this week…Transformation Tuesday! Every Tuesday I will be featuring a guest who has transformed their life through running at Disney. These stories are so inspirational and I can’t wait to share them with you!!
Also this week, Danielle is coming back with more yoga tips for runners and a recap of the Expedition Everest Challenge. Big congrats to everyone who completed the race last night! It looked wet and miserable, but you did it!
And now to announce the winner of the super RAD custom designed tutu from Tutu-da-loo! Sarah S. you are the big winner! Missy and I will be in touch via email to get your custom tutu designed! Congrats!
Have a great week!

Oh hey there…Happy Easter!
I’ve been quiet around here this week…there’s a lot going on with me personally and thankfully things are starting to really look up. I finished my last week of work and I’m getting ready to jump into life full speed ahead!
Can you believe that it’s about time to get registered for he 2015 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend? How did that happen?! Early registration opened last week for Annual Passholders and DVC members, and the general on-sale is on Tuesday. We’re also getting close to the Expedition Everest Challenge on May 2nd. I’ll have details on both events for you this week.
And speaking of the Expedition Everest Challenge, I’m looking for coverage from the weekend. The Expo, the Race, the After Party…all the things. Shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested!
For now, I will leave you with this awesome video from my friend Brett who is braving the spring break crowds in WDW. It’s the Great Movie Ride in 15 seconds…

I’m entering my last week of work and I am full of anxiety and excitement! There are so many mixed emotions but I finally feel charged for the first time in a long time, yet there is still a lot of work to do. I’m ready…I think! 🙂
Something I can say I’m very excited about is the new medal that was revealed today for this year’s Wine & Dine Half Marathon! I absolutely love the design and the fact that it’s a spinner makes it even better! This will be my next runDisney race (so far away!) and I’m really looking forward to celebrating the 5th anniversary of the race and getting some new bling!
If you’re wondering why I’m not running any races until November, well it’s because I signed up for the Disney Fit Challenge in September. I’ll be in the scaled division and giving it my all! I’m really excited to try something different and kick up my training. This weekend I attended a weightlifting clinic where we focused on snatches and clean & jerks. I’ve always loved clean & jerks, but snatches are tough. It was great to get more practice in and learn a ton of tips on how to improve form and strength. I really love lifting heavy things!
Also this week, Reebok came out with some fun superhero inspired versions of their CrossFit Nano 3.0. Even if you don’t do CrossFit, these are a great all around cross-training shoe. They are actually my favorites just for walking around the Disney parks!
And keeping with the culinary theme, I took a trip out to Disney California Adventure and reminisced on one of my favorite breakfast’s of all time at Flo’s V8 Cafe. However I am now seriously bummed because someone commented they are no longer serving breakfast there…I am devastated 🙁
Since the next few weeks (months actually!) are going to be rather hectic for me, I’m still looking for guest contributors to RAD. Whether it’s a story idea or a monthly column idea, I want to hear from you! Email me at email@example.com if you are interested!
Hope you have a great week!

Two weeks down and two more to go until I am make my dreams a reality…I can’t wait to get started! I think my new arm candy says it all 🙂
Oh and speaking of arm candy…I’m SO excited that my Walt Disney World Annual Passholder MagicBand came this weekend! I might just wear it all the time 😉
Apparently it’s been a big week for my wrists. Seen enough yet??
Big Disney news this week was that the media preview invites for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train have been sent out! The event will be April 30 – May 2 which means the actual opening isn’t far away now! I’ve been SO excited about this opening and can’t believe the time is almost here. The details that have been coming out are amazing…
And while we’re on the topic of new construction, I can’t even deal with this progress update on the Polynesian DVC construction from Tikiman Pages. I don’t just want to stay there, I want to LIVE there! B doesn’t know it yet, but we are totally adding on some DVC points at the Poly when that becomes available.
Also this week, I had two great guest posts here on RAD. The first was from my friend Danielle over at Live, Run, Grow who has started a new series here on Yoga for Runners! I am so excited to have her here because not only is she a great writer, but she also has some amazing tips on how to improve your running with yoga. It definitely helped her to complete the Dopey Challenge this year!
Next Ashley returned with a recap of the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon. I love her positive outlook and how excited she was to run this race. I love that she rode Expedition Everest during the race 🙂 Big congrats to Ashley for crossing this off of her bucket list!
I know I promised so Disney eats this week, but clearly that didn’t happen. This week for sure! I’m really missing some Disney food. Maybe we’ll even take a trip out to the West Coast…hmmm.
What fun things did YOU do this week???

Does anyone else have spring fever?!? Daylight Savings Time came just in time for me as I was about to go completely stir-crazy! The longer days and the taste of warmer temps have definitely brightened my spirits, but also have gotten me out and about to exercise and enjoy CT! Yesterday I went to a really fun Escape to Spring Expo where I took in the smells of spring and gorged myself at some killer food trucks.
I have continued to stuff my face all weekend with more great meals to start my birthday week! My mom is visiting for a few days so we are doing a lot of indulging along with relaxing…both of which are much needed. We also pampered ourselves a bit with some haircuts on Friday…look, I got bangs!
I also started getting back into a routine at the gym which has felt great! I feel energized and ready to kick my training back up again. Even after deciding not to give it a go at in the CrossFit Open this year, I tried WOD 14.3 yesterday and did fairly well given my lack of training. I got through the 20 deadlifts at 155# for a total of 75 reps. I have definitely lost a lot of strength recently and I’m determined to get that back!
I finished my recap of the Glass Slipper Challenge this week with the Princess Half Marathon, which is always fun but this time it was a bit of an emotional journey.
Heather from I Love Characters! also stopped by this week to give a really fun recap of the Fit for a Princess Expo. She got some rad photos and also made off with some great runDisney swag!
And in case you missed it, this week was time for another fun game of Kill, Marry, Refub where we looked at World Showcase Counter Service Spots…what do you think my picks were???
I’ve also been thinking about getting a GoPro Camera. Does anyone out there have one? Do you love it? Hate it? After watching this super fun video from my friend Alli’s family vacation to WDW, I think this would be a GREAT way to capture my vacations and all of my runDisney experiences.
