Are you all in a candy coma from Valentine’s Day? I’m in a bit of a cupcake coma and I think it’s about time for a detox. It’s just so hard to resist when you have an amazing cupcake place in town…plus they won Cupcake Wars!
This has been a week of recovery and reflection. I know I’ve hinted that there has been a lot going on with me and I finally decided to open up about it on RAD Living today….the good and the bad. Thank you to everyone for your love and support…I’m humbled and forever grateful.
Looking ahead, I am excited about Princess Half Marathon Weekend coming up! It is the perfect time to get away for some fun and I’m even more excited that B is coming with me. We both need to escape the cold weather and all of the heartache of the past few weeks…what better place to do that then at Walt Disney World?!
This week on RAD began with a look at the Dopey Challenge by Sparkly Runner Sarah, who also has some great tips on how to run these races smart!
Registration opened this week for the 2014 Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler in October. It looks like the races haven’t reached 50% capacity yet, so there is still time to get in!
And finally, I put together all of the info you will need to navigate Princess Half Marathon Weekend, including corral assignments, course maps, transportations times…you name it! These race weekends can get overwhelming, so I hope having everything in one place helps! Who will be picking up these beauties next weekend?!?
And please don’t forget…If you see me around next weekend, STOP ME AND SAY HI! One of my favorite things about race weekends is getting to meet so many new people and put faces to the names I have been chatting with online for so long. Tweet me, send me a Facebook message, or reach out on Instagram. I will be all over the World and would love to meet up!
Have a great week and thank you again to everyone for your love and support…I’ll never be able to express how much this has all meant to me and my family 🙂

This past month has been emotionally and physically draining for me. I’m not quite ready to get into all of the details about what has ben going on, but I can’t thank all of my amazing guests who have, and will continue to contribute to RAD. Not only has it helped me stay on top of all things runDisney, but it has brought a whole new feel and community to this blog that I’m loving. I hope you are too.
This week was all about Tinker Bell. Kinnereth returned to recap her experience at the Tinker Bell Half Marathon last month.
Then Liliane recapped the same race, but as a first time half marathoner while running for the Special Olympics Team!
The more I read about this race, the more I want to run it. It just looks like so much fun!
There were some interesting discussions around the runDisney blogosphere this week about how some race veterans are taking a break from running at Disney for a while. I have to admit that I’ve had some similar feelings lately, especially when it comes to the increasing price, crowded courses and the community drama, but I’m not sure that I’m ready to give it all up just yet. Take a look at Megan’s post on What’s Wrong with runDisney and Krissy’s post In Defense of Both Sides and let me know where you fit in. I’d love the hear your thoughts on these issues…it’s a tough one.
In some positive news this week, I got a new car!! It was sad to give up my beloved Gretta after 6.5 years, but a new beginning is just what I needed.
Also, we’re now less than 2 weeks away from Princess Half Marathon Weekend (my favorite!) and I finally got all of my travel details squared away. Plus my MagicBands arrived, which makes it even more exciting! Get ready for some shenanigans from me and my girl Amanda!
Many people have been asking me about an official RAD meet-up over Princess Weekend, but at this time I don’t think that I will be hosting one. However that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to see, meet and hang out with as many of you as possible. If you see me around, please stop me and say hi! Tweet me, send me a Facebook message, or reach out on Instagram. I will all over the World and would love to meet up!

This week the Tinker Bell Half Marathon sold out in record time! I’m consistently amazed by how fast these races are selling out and pretty soon they will have to be open by some sort of lottery system if they keep selling out at this rate! The brand new Tinker Bell 10K still has availability and is at 54% capacity. This will most likely sell out in the next few weeks, so don’t hesitate to register if you are interested.
Also this week Disney released the trailer for Saving Mr. Banks. This film is the story of how Mary Poppins came to life on the big screen and it just looks beyond amazing. I will definitely be going to see this on Christmas Day this year!
I also want to take a moment and congratulate my good friend Estelle of This Happy Place Blog on her 2 year anniversary. She unvailed a new look and is hosting a fantastic giveaway to celebrate. So head over there and enter to win one of 3 great prizes!!
In case you missed it, here’s what’s been happening on Running at Disney this week:
- Registration is Now Open for the 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

So I sucked it up and got myself to CrossFit this week despite the crazy heat. It was a sweatfest and I think I actually got dehydrated. I thought I was drinking enough throughout the day, but the high humidity really got the best of me. By Wednesday I felt lightheaded and lethargic. I took the day off from exercise and focused on rehydrating, which helped a lot. This is something I really have to stay focused on for the remainder fo the summer and you should too!
Here’s my full week of workouts and to view a complete list of WODs, visit my dailymile page.
Monday: CrossFit: Back Squats, Thrusters & Air Dyne
Tuesday: CrossFit: Power Cleans & Shoulder Press
Thursday: CrossFit: CG Bench, Rope Climb, Renegade Row & Sled Push
I’m clearly in a running slump. I’m struggling with motivation to get out there and get the miles in. Not only is the heat playing a factor, but my stuggles with my digestive system in the mornings have been giving me reservations about getting out there. I’ve been having issues on my past few runs and and frankly it’s just not fun. I’ve got to figure something out…I’m just not sure what that is.
This week I received a Polar RC3 GPS Sport Watch to review as part of a FitFluential campaign. I’m so excited to try this out at CrossFit this week and yes, I will be taking it out on a few runs in the coming weeks as well. Expect a full review 🙂
If you’ve been looking for a heart rate monitor with GPS, click here and use code “fitfluential” during checkout for a 25% discount! This discount is valid only on the Polar RC3 GPS and will expire on August 10th, so get on it!

I really can’t even begin to express my gratitude and I hope you are enjoying the site so far.

It is HOT here in the Northeast…seriously HOT! I don’t deal well with exercising in extreme heat, so my fitness has been severely lacking this week. Running and CrossFit have taken a backseat to less intensive exercises like yoga and swimming.
Plus the 4th of July holiday was thrown in there that threw my schedule for a loop (yeah, yeah…excuses, excuses!). Anyway, here’s my full week and to view a complete list of WODs, visit my dailymile page.
Monday: CrossFit: Front Squats & Squat Cleans

I’m so excited to announce a new project I’ve been working on…RAD Living!
If you’ve been reading Running at Disney for a while, you are probably aware that I have many interests that lie outside simply running and Disney. I love to cook, I’ve become addicted to CrossFit, I live in the Northeast, just to name a few. So I decided I needed somewhere to highlight all of these things and RAD Living was born!
No worries, Running at Disney isn’t going anywhere. I will still be bringing you the latest in runDisney news, running tips and Disney fanaticism. runDisney race season begins in two short months with Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, so you can be sure there will be a TON of coverage coming up as all of the race weekends draw near. I am also working on a design overhaul so keep an eye out for a spiffy new look!
I hope you come visit me over at RAD Living and made sure to follow my Twitter and Facebook accounts for the site. My Instagram account is still active, but I will now be posting under the username rad_living since most of my posts there fit that site better. I’m so excited about this new journey and I hope you enjoy it too!
