We all knew this was coming right? It was only a matter of time after the popularity of the 10K additions to Disneyland Half Weekend, then WDW Marathon Weekend, then Princess Weekend…Tink was the logical next step.
The new Tinker Bell 10k will be taking place on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Disneyland Resort prior to the Tinker Bell Half Marathon on Sunday. The race will be themed around the Disney Fairies and of course will feature an all new, shiny medal! I’ll bet it includes some of Tink’s friends from Pixie Hollow. 🙂 This race is continuing to draw on the growing popularity of women running and in particular racing runDisney, as well as appealing to newer runners who aren’t quite ready for that half marathon….Disney is listening!
All of the races for Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend go on-sale next week on July 9th, so set your alarms because this race sells out FAST! And don’t forget that if you are registered for both the Tinker Bell Half and the Princess Half, you will earn the new PINK Coast-to-Coast medal!
Check out this fun teaser video from runDisney!
So will you be flying with Tink and her friends from Pixie Hollow in January??
Here’s the official press release:
Disney Fairies-themed 10K added to Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend
Tinker Bell’s fairy friends to join in the runDisney fun at Disneyland Resort
Anaheim, Calif. (July 2, 2013) – It took a little faith, trust and pixie dust, but the Tinker Bell Half MarathonWeekend at Disneyland Resort is expanding to include the inaugural Tinker Bell 10K in 2014.
In its third year, Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend, hosted by the city of Anaheim and the Disneyland Resort, is scheduled for Jan. 16-19. Earlier this year, more than 21,000 runners took part in the women-focused weekend of events centered on health, fitness and active lifestyles.
The new Disney Fairies-themed 10K will be held Saturday, January 18, and builds on the massive popularity of therunDisney series and women-focused events. Tinker Bell 10K finishers will receive a new, specially-designed, fairy-themed medal.
“We’re excited to add the popular 10K distance to Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend,” said Faron Kelley, director of marketing, Disney Sports. “Tinker Bell 10K expands an already exciting series of events, and adds more opportunities for our passionate runners on the west coast, especially those new runners who are stepping up to the 10K distance.”
Along with the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort, the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend is one of two women-focused runDisney events. Both races are among the largest women-specific running events in the country and focus on healthy, active lifestyles for women and girls.

BIG announcements from runDisney today about the 2014 Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend scheduled for February 20-23, 2014! You know this is my favorite race, so I couldn’t be more excited about the news!!
The Princess 10K
Jumping on the success of the 10K races for the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend and WDW Marathon Weekend, it seems like a no-brainer that they would add a 10K to Princess Weekend. This gives runners of all abilities the opportunity to take part in this magically royal weekend! I always encourage new runners to take part in the Princess Half Marathon since I had such a wonderful experience with it as my first big race. The atmosphere is so upbeat and fun…I’m so glad even more people will now be able to participate.
Disney Glass Slipper Challenge
Well of course there is a new challenge, which obviously means MORE BLING! For those princesses (and princes) looking for even more of a challenge, you can sign up for the 10K on Saturday and the Half Marathon on Sunday and receive the inaugural Disney Glass Slipper Challenge Medal. Oh you know that will be around my neck! And don’t forget you will get the medals from the individual races as well.
Special Edition Coast-to-Coast Race Challenge
For runners participating in both the Tinkerbell Half Marathon (January 17-19, 2014) in Disneyland and Disney’s Princess Half Marathon, you will receive a Special Edition Coast-to-Coast Race Challenge Medal! The medal will still feature Walt and Mickey, but it will have a pink overlay and a pink lanyard. How cute is this?!?
Registration for the 2014 Princess Half Marathon opens June 11, 2013. A limited number of runners will have the opportunity to register for both the Princess and Tinker Bell Half Marathon at that time to secure your spot in the Coast-to-Coast Challenge. The official registration for the Tinker Bell Half Marathon will open on July 9, 2013. No word if a discount will be given for early registration of both races, but if you’re a DVC Members or Disney Visa Cardholder, don’t forget to use your discount codes.
So what do you think of the new announcements for Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend? I’m clearly beside myself!! Bring on the challenge!!
