Love is in the air this Valentine’s Day! Since I love all of my RAD readers so much, I wanted to thank you for all of your love and support with a fun giveaway from Whosits and Whatsits!
“I’ve got gadgets and gizmos aplenty. I’ve got whosits and whatsits galore.”
– Ariel, The Little Mermaid
When I first went on the Whosits and Whatsits website, I immediately wanted EVERYTHING. I’m a huge Disneynerd, but I’m not a fan of wearing things that scream Disney. All of the items here are very stylish with a subtle nod to many Disney favorites. From shirts, sweatshirts, jewelry and hats, there is something for everyone.
By far my favorite item is the Neverland Beanie!
Since I live in the Northeast, you won’t find me outside without a beanie on my heard from November to March. This hat is SO CUTE!! It’s stylish and warm. I’ve gotten so many compliments on it and no one seems to get the “feather in the cap” reference until I point it out. Then they love it even more!
Well I have an extra Neverland Beanie just for you! You can enter to win through next Thursday, February 19th and I will announce the winner on Friday.

This morning I learned of the passing of a legend in the runDinsey community, Peggy Sue. This is a huge loss not only to our community, but to me personally as she has touched me in so many ways over the years even though she probably had no idea.
If you have run a race in Walt Disney World or Disneyland, chances are you have seen Peggy Sue and you have smiled. She was always near the end of a race course holding her famous sign: “Hello Complete Stranger, I’m Proud Of You Too!”
My first memory of Peggy Sue was during my first half marathon, the 2012 Princess Half Marathon. I recall seeing her near the bus stops as you head into Epcot for the final mile of the race. I was so emotional about finishing my first half marathon and to think that this person had come out to cheer ME on was mind blowing…I will never forget her there.
I continued to see her at every Disney race. In front of the Yacht Club for the Wine & Dine Half and the WDW Marathon and in Downtown Disney for the Disneyland Half. I didn’t know who she was, but I was always thrilled to see her and would stop to thank her for her support.
It wasn’t until after a year or so of running that I found her through the Pacebook Running Club (PbRC). I was thrilled to learn her name and I quickly friended her on Facebook. She was a HUGE part of the PbRC and always attended their meet ups on race weekends.
The last time I saw Peggy Sue was during the 2014 Wine & Dine Half Marathon. I had known she was ill and I wasn’t sure if I would see her. Plus is was pouring rain and chilly for that race. When I saw her and her signature sign in front of the Yacht Club I was elated. I ran over, gave her a big hug, asked how she was feeling, and thanked her for coming out on that incredibly crappy night. I didn’t know it would be the last time I would see her, but I’m so thankful for that moment.
This incredibly kind and selfless woman will surely be missed both on and off the race course. She meant so much to so many and touched thousands of lives. Her spirit will surely live on in all of us and she will never be forgotten. Thank you Peggy Sue!
Please take 5 minutes to view this wonderful tribute:

Today I’ve been decompressing from our big family barbecue yesterday. B’s entire family (all 23 of them) came to visit from NY yesterday. I don’t think we’ve ever had more than 8 people over before so this was quite interesting. I was nervous, but it turned out to be a really great day! The food was great, we had a lot of laughs and even some hula hoop contests!
This week I also recapped days 2 & 3 of the CrossFit Games Northeast Regional and took a look at the 2nd week of my CSA…it’s all about greens this time of year!
It’s been quite an exciting week in the world of runDisney! First let’s start with Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend. I knew this was going to sell out fast, but the rate it sold out is insane! The Rebel Challenge (Star Wars 10K & Half Marathon) sold out in a record breaking 26 minutes with all of the other races not far behind. And faster than you can say Wookie, the entire weekend was sold out in about 2 hours! Pretty incredible. The big question is…Did you get in?!?
More news from the West Coast this week was the big reveal of the 2014 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend medals. As Katherine pointed out that the ribbons for this year might be cooler than the medals themselves and I kind of have to agree…they are pretty rad!
In other happenings, Richard stopped by to share his transformation story, John was back with more Anaheim Antics and his recap of the Laguna Hills 10K, and I took a look at the Epcot pre-shows in a fun game of Kill, Refurb, Marry. Do you have a favorite Epcot pre-show? Here’s mine:
And last, but certainly not least, I want to wish all the dads out there a very Happy Father’s Day! Especially to my Dad…he’s pretty awesome and was the driving force behind my Disney obsession. Without that I never would’ve started on this Running at Disney journey and accomplished some of the most amazing things in my life. Thanks Dad 🙂
Have a great week everyone!

Well I’m sad to say that my birthday week is coming to an end…it’s been quite a fun celebration this year 🙂 My week started with a visit from my Mom that was filled with great food and relaxation! Throughout the week I took some time for myself and also had quite a few celebrations. A fun thing about my birthday is that I share the day with my good friend Kat. Needless to say we shared many drinks and cakes…
To end out a great week, my Dad and Stepmom visited this weekend for more good food and a lot of laughs. I’m so grateful to have wonderful friends and family in my life to spend this time with and who love to eat as much as I do. That really is what’s important in life, isn’t it?
This week on RAD, Hannah stopped by with some lessons she learned from the WDW Marathon this year. She has so many great tips about listening to your body and making tough choices.
Also this week the Disney Fit Challenge went on sale and as you can imagine, I’m seriously excited about it. I’ve made the decision to sit out of the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler this year and to compete in the scaled division of this event. Disney + Barbells = Awesome in my book!
Coming up this week is the on sale for the Inaugural Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend, which I’m pretty sure will sell out VERY quickly so be ready! I’ll have all the details for you Tuesday morning. Also coming up this week are some great travel tips for race day and a look at the ChEAR Squad at runDisney events!
As for me, I think I need a detox from the mass amounts of butter, cupcakes and wine I have consumed this week. It’s been a blast, but I need to get myself back in gear. Well maybe not quite yet…
Have a great week and make sure to check out some exciting news I’ll be sharing over on RAD Living this week. It’s going to be life changing!

Are you all in a candy coma from Valentine’s Day? I’m in a bit of a cupcake coma and I think it’s about time for a detox. It’s just so hard to resist when you have an amazing cupcake place in town…plus they won Cupcake Wars!
This has been a week of recovery and reflection. I know I’ve hinted that there has been a lot going on with me and I finally decided to open up about it on RAD Living today….the good and the bad. Thank you to everyone for your love and support…I’m humbled and forever grateful.
Looking ahead, I am excited about Princess Half Marathon Weekend coming up! It is the perfect time to get away for some fun and I’m even more excited that B is coming with me. We both need to escape the cold weather and all of the heartache of the past few weeks…what better place to do that then at Walt Disney World?!
This week on RAD began with a look at the Dopey Challenge by Sparkly Runner Sarah, who also has some great tips on how to run these races smart!
Registration opened this week for the 2014 Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler in October. It looks like the races haven’t reached 50% capacity yet, so there is still time to get in!
And finally, I put together all of the info you will need to navigate Princess Half Marathon Weekend, including corral assignments, course maps, transportations times…you name it! These race weekends can get overwhelming, so I hope having everything in one place helps! Who will be picking up these beauties next weekend?!?
And please don’t forget…If you see me around next weekend, STOP ME AND SAY HI! One of my favorite things about race weekends is getting to meet so many new people and put faces to the names I have been chatting with online for so long. Tweet me, send me a Facebook message, or reach out on Instagram. I will be all over the World and would love to meet up!
Have a great week and thank you again to everyone for your love and support…I’ll never be able to express how much this has all meant to me and my family 🙂
