Well it is unofficially Fall, but strangely it’s been one of the hottest weeks of the year…go figure! However if you are in Walt Disney World you would think that the Fall and Halloween are in full swing. All of the decorations are up, the merchandise is out and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party has started. I took a look at all of the festivities this week because it is officially my favorite time of year in Walt Disney World!
This week began coverage of Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend with a fun recap of the Disneyland 5K from a RAD reader named Minnie…how fun is that?!
The next 2+ weeks will be filled with coverage of Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend including more race recaps, spectator coverage and first time runDisney experiences. I can’t wait to hear all about it!
My week has been, well interesting. I had a run in with a pharmacy tech that made me question if honesty is always the best policy…
I also took a trip down the Sebastian River and saw manatee and gator…oh my!
Finally, I was joined by a Robin who shared he transformation story this week and I put together a recap of all of Danielle’s Yoga for Runners posts from the past few months since she’s taking the month off. So many great tips there!
I’m looking forward to a week of training for the Disney Fit Challenge…it’s only 3 weeks away! I really need to start jumping on some boxes and getting some runs in. Even 3 weeks of endurance building will be a big help.
Hope you have a great week!

It’s hard to believe that Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party starts tonight! Yes, you heard me right….TONIGHT! It is Labor Day, 90+ degrees out and officially still summer, but thousands of guests will be donning their Halloween costumes and Trick-or-Treating throughout the Magic Kingdom.
But even though it doesn’t feel like Fall, it sure looks like it in the Magic Kingdom. Check out some of the fun decorations that are up and around Main Street USA!
And it’s not just the fall decorations that are out, all of that great Halloween merchandise is out too. This is always my favorite! I found a few fun new items this year…I think I want them all…
Halloween/Fall at Walt Disney World is definitely my favorite time of year. The decor is great, the temps are cooling down and the celebrations are the BEST! Nothing beats Hallowishes! I can’t wait to get back down there in 26 days to see it all again!
What’s your favorite part about Halloween in Walt Disney World?

Well it’s a rainy 4th of July up here in the Northeast which means no fireworks tonight…booooo! So instead, I thought I’d take a look at some of my favorite fireworks shows at Walt Disney World!
I have to admit that I’ve been spoiled by the fireworks in WDW. I always used to be so impressed with fireworks shows around the 4th of July, but then I started realizing most of them aren’t perfectly themed to music…what?!? How could this be?? Yes, I know…you can’t compare the two but choreographed fireworks are really cool! Here are 2 of my favorites:
The torches are lit around World Showcase Lagoon…
The wonderful pre-show music is playing and one of the best nighttime spectaculars is about to begin. Where else can you see a lake on fire???
Or a giant LED globe that spins and shoots fireworks??
This show is so moving and emotional…it just invokes pure happiness!
See for yourself…
SO. MUCH. FUN! Anything that incorporates all of the Disney villains and some killer perimeter fireworks around the Magic Kingdom is #1 in my book. And when Oogie Boogie makes an appearance…the best!
While the show is great to enjoy during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, my favorite place to watch it is high above the Magic Kingdom at California Grill. A little wine, a little cheese and the best fireworks show around! Plus, the perimeter fireworks look like they’re right outside the windows!

Have you heard that it’s HOT here in the Northeast?? No?? I think everyone is complaining about this heatwave we’re having, but honestly I’ll take this any day over the winter…remember Nemo??
However, this heat has had me wanting something cool and delicious. So of course my mind turns to Dole Whips! Now I’m a relative newbie when it comes to Dole Whips. I only had my first one a few years ago. It was my friend Don, a self-proclaimed Dole Whip addict, who convinced me that I had to try one.
So back in 2010, Don took me to Aloha Isle during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and I tried my first Dole Whip. I actually opted for the Swirl with vanilla ice cream and it was amazingly delicious. The fun thing about trying this during the Halloween party was that the vanilla ice cream was green!
Since then, it has been a must stop for a sweet treat while in the Magic Kingdom. I’ve stuck with the Swirl as my go-to flavor since it’s not as “pineappley” as the straight up Dole Whip.
One of my favorite variations of the Dole Whip debuted this year at Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival – Dole Whip with Spiced Rum! Of course I had to try this! While it was delicious, it was basically just a Dole Whip and the rum didn’t add or detract anything from it. Would I get it again? Um…yes!
Sigh…I wish I had any one of these variations in my hand right now while the temps are 100 degrees outside.
Do you like Dole Whips? What is your favorite kind…Original, Float, Swirl, Spiced Rum?
