Today I’ve been decompressing from our big family barbecue yesterday. B’s entire family (all 23 of them) came to visit from NY yesterday. I don’t think we’ve ever had more than 8 people over before so this was quite interesting. I was nervous, but it turned out to be a really great day! The food was great, we had a lot of laughs and even some hula hoop contests!
This week I also recapped days 2 & 3 of the CrossFit Games Northeast Regional and took a look at the 2nd week of my CSA…it’s all about greens this time of year!
It’s been quite an exciting week in the world of runDisney! First let’s start with Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend. I knew this was going to sell out fast, but the rate it sold out is insane! The Rebel Challenge (Star Wars 10K & Half Marathon) sold out in a record breaking 26 minutes with all of the other races not far behind. And faster than you can say Wookie, the entire weekend was sold out in about 2 hours! Pretty incredible. The big question is…Did you get in?!?
More news from the West Coast this week was the big reveal of the 2014 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend medals. As Katherine pointed out that the ribbons for this year might be cooler than the medals themselves and I kind of have to agree…they are pretty rad!
In other happenings, Richard stopped by to share his transformation story, John was back with more Anaheim Antics and his recap of the Laguna Hills 10K, and I took a look at the Epcot pre-shows in a fun game of Kill, Refurb, Marry. Do you have a favorite Epcot pre-show? Here’s mine:
And last, but certainly not least, I want to wish all the dads out there a very Happy Father’s Day! Especially to my Dad…he’s pretty awesome and was the driving force behind my Disney obsession. Without that I never would’ve started on this Running at Disney journey and accomplished some of the most amazing things in my life. Thanks Dad 🙂
Have a great week everyone!

Happy Father’s Day to all you Dad’s out there!
But I have to give a special Father’s Day wish to MY DAD. He is a huge RAD supporter and reads my blog everyday! Hi Dad! He’s always been incredibly supportive in everything I’ve do and he makes me cry just writing this…I’m such a Daddy’s girl 🙂 Oh and did I mention he’s an amazing dancer??
Well, it’s been a week of highs and lows around here. I feel like I’ve been on an emotional and physical roller coaster since Monday. To sum it up: I’ve had horrible WODs, fun WODs, bad confrontations with co-workers, many laughs with friends, comfort from B and the kids, and a tough trail/obstacle run. Phew…I’m glad this one’s over! Hopefully we can start Monday on some sort of high note.
Yesterday was the Gladiator Gauntlet that was put together by my box CrossFit Milford. I was on a team with my girls Ari, Ashley & Keira and we had the BEST outfits of the day…seriously…
This was much harder than I thought it was going to be and I can’t thank my girls enough for pushing me through…I really couldn’t have done it without them. I’ll have a full review this week so you can hear all of the
gory fun details!
Hey did you hear that the Princess Half Marathon went on sale this week?? Well a bunch of crazy Princesses (myself included) sold out the Glass Slipper Challenge in only a few hours. I’ve got all the details on Princess Weekend, along with some other fun posts on RAD this week, check them out:

Hmmmm…how do I describe this week. Crappy and fun all rolled into one?? Sigh… Here’s how it went down and as always, to view a complete list of WODs, visit my dailymile page.
Monday: CrossFit: Step Lunges & Hang Squat Cleans
Tuesday: CrossFit: DL, CG Bench, Shoulder to Overhead, HPC & Row
Thursday: CrossFit: DL, Burpees, AD & Plank Walkouts
Saturday: Gladiator Gauntlet
Monday’s WOD was HORRIBLE. It put me in a really bad state of feeling like I wasn’t good at anything. On top of that, I could hardly walk for 3 days after due to all of thee step lunges! Tuesday’s WOD was actually really fun and I would’ve down that 3 times over before doing Monday again. I had to take Wednesday off because my legs were so sore and then I finished the week with another fun WOD on Thursday. Sadly I didn’t get any runs in this week, but I was so run down this week, I couldn’t get out of bed to put in the time. Back at it this week for sure!
So before the Gauntlet yesterday, I pulled my right hip flexor while we were stretching. Yep…way to go Sarah…pull a muscle BEFORE the actual race. Ugh. Anyway, it’s still bothering me a bit, but I’ve been living in compression shorts, doing numerous stretches and icing like crazy. It’s feeling better and I’m hoping it’s nothing major like last year’s hip injury.
Today I’m raising my glass to a better week, it has to be! Let’s make this a good one folks! What are your goals?

Hey there! Interesting week I’ve had full of sickness and rest…I hope yours was a little better! Make sure you read through the post to the Weekly Review where I have some really fun and exciting news! But first, some RAD Reads from among the blogosphere this week…enjoy!
Meals and Miles attended a Brooks information session. It’s like every running geek’s dream! She also attended a SoulCycle class that is a combination of Spinning and a full body toning workout. Given my love of Spinning I really want to give this a try!
Peace Love & Oats posted what looks like to be a great circuit exercise! I think I need to give this a try.
Studios Central has been celebrating International Studios Awareness all week, so make sure to check out all of the amazing articles featuring Disney Hollywood Studios. The coolest thing they put out was this Choose Your Own Star Tours Adventure! I can finally get my perfect ride!
This Happy Place Blog are back from their Disney Cruise on the Magic from NYC where they got to attend a presentation from Jason Surrell (!!!!) on his involvement with reimagineering Star Tours: The Adventure Continues. Well that is just too cool!
Da Mouse has been putting out some AMAZING photos and videos of the opening of Cars Land in Disney California Adventure this week. Take some time to go through the 10-part series on their blog…trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
Zannaland gives a spoiler-free review of the new Disney-Pixar film Brave. I can’t wait to see this!
Imagineering Disney has put together a very cool Then and Now photo comparison of Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom. It’s so interesting to see how the landscaping has changed.
And last, but certainly not least, make sure to check out my post on Race Courses: They Can Make or Break You over on WDW for Grownups!
Last week I had this great goal of getting back to exercising 4-5 times per week. What is that they say about the best laid plans?? Monday morning I woke up congested, but physically felt ok. I had planned to go Spinning that night after work, but as the day went on I was feeling worse. Fast forward to Tuesday morning when I wake up with intense sinus pressure and no ability to breathe through my nose. Oh hello sinus infection…ugh. I stayed home and went right to the doctor to get some antibiotics. I didn’t want to prolong this thing. Needless to say, I didn’t do much of anything this week, but I finally ran again yesterday and felt really good. Woohoo!
Here’s my week in non-training:
Wednesday: Still sickly
Thursday: On the mend
Friday: Last day of rest
Saturday: 2.75 miles
Oh and have you heard…I signed up for the 20th Walt Disney World Marathon on Friday!!! Aaaaaahhhhh!!! I am really excited about this, but a bit nervous at the same time. I have a long road of training ahead and I’m starting this week. I’ll post my training schedule once I get it finalized. I’m going to be following a Jeff Galloway program, since they seem to work really well for me. I also need to incorporate some serious toning exercises to get the rest of my body in shape for this challenge. I’ve heard that Tone It Up! has great programs, so I might give that a try. Any other suggestions for toning plans/workouts? Have you tried Tone It Up!?
Ideally, I’d like to lose at least 20 pounds before the race because it would be a lot easier to carry 20 pounds less across that finish line. I think it will also help me be more confident in my training and allow me to push myself further. I’ve already dropped a few pounds this week as I’ve been sick because I’m eating healthier and I haven’t had any alcohol. Well that was until yesterday, when I visited my Dad and had a hot dog, chips and cake. We were celebrating Father’s Day (hi Dad!), my cousin’s high school graduation (go Megan!), and my uncles birthday so I think it was allowed…right??? And this is what I did for the rest of the day besides eat…
Yes, I did get on one of those floats and it was awesome!
And just to make you a little bit jealous…my Dad made one of his famous breakfast’s this morning. Yes, it’s Father’s Day but that doesn’t stop him from killing it in the kitchen. What a great way to finish a not so great week!
Training starts tomorrow with Spinning to ease back into the swing of things. Here’s hoping this all works out! Hope you all have a wonderful week 🙂
Who else is running the WDW Marathon in 2013?
