Earlier this week I announced that I will be having a meet up during Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend. If you’re going to be out for any of the races that weekend I hope you’ll be able to stop by. You can RSVP here.
My planning for this trip is coming along. Hotel is booked, dining reservations are made and I’m beginning to get a plan together for touring the parks. I really can’t believe the races are only 3 weeks away!
In other runDisney news this week, the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon sold out! The only event still available for that weekend is Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge, but that’s already 92% full. So if you’ve been thinking about participating, don’t hesitate!
In case you missed it, here’s what’s new on Running at Disney this week:
- Running at Disney’s Disneyland Half Marathon RAD Meet Up!
- Polar RC3 GPS Sports Watch Product Review: Get ALL the Data!
- Friday Feast: Disneyland Table Service Dining Must Dos!
And here’s what’s been happening over on RAD Living:

|June 6, 2013||Posted by Running at Disney under Princess Half Marathon Weekend, runDisney Races|
It’s almost time to register for Disney’s Princess Half Marathon again!! I am constantly baffled at how fast time goes by!
You are all probably aware at this point that the Disney Enchanted 10K has been added to the weekend and that there is a new Glass Slipper Challenge if you complete both the 10K and Princess Half Marathon. There is also the new Coast to Coast Challenge pink medal when you complete the Princess Half Marathon and the Tinker Bell Half Marathon in 2014.
But alas, there is NEW information about Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Similar to the changes implemented for Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in January, the following enhancements will be in place to
hopefully make the race experience better:
- Lowering weekend capacity by 2,000 runners, mostly in the half marathon
- Proof of time required from runners anticipating a finish time of 3:15 or less
- More corrals allowing runners with similar abilities to be grouped together and therefore spreading out the field on the course
- No corral changes based on proof of time will be made after December 1, 2013.
It was also confirmed by runDisney that the Fit for a Princess Expo will be going back to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in 2014! This year it was held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, which just was too close for comfort!

Ever since the new special edition Coast to Coast Challenge pink medal was announced for the Princess Half Marathon and the Tinker Bell Half Marathon, questions have been circulating. Can we now get 2 Coast to Coast medals?!? It wasn’t clear.
Well now it is and YES, in 2014 you have the ability to earn 2 Coast to Coast medals (if your wallet allows).
Here is the official info from the runDisney website:
Only in 2014, runners can earn each version of the Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal. Each race can only count once towards a Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal; to earn both medals in 2014 four races – two on each coast – must be completed.
So that means you MUST complete Disney’s Princess Half Marathon and the Tinker Bell Half Marathon, along with one of the following races in Walt Disney World:
- Walt Disney World Marathon
- Walt Disney World Half Marathon
- Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge
- Dopey Challenge
- Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon
AND the Disneyland Half Marathon or the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge. That’s a lot of
While I would LOVE to have both of these medals, I don’t think it’s in the cards for me. The Tinker Bell Half Marathon is too close to Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and I’m already signed up for the 10K and Half Marathon. Plus, it’s quite the investment to take a trip to California twice in one year for me and that’s just not in the cards. But I can’t wait to see how many of YOU take on this challenge! Will you be getting 2 Coast to Coast medals in 2014?
|May 21, 2013||Posted by Running at Disney under runDisney Races, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler|
It is quite incredible how popular runDisney races have become. Even with the addition of new race lengths this year, each weekend seems to be selling out in record time. Disney “race season” hasn’t even begun and there are only a handful of races that are open for registration. Here’s an update:

- Happy Haunted 5K Trail Run – 52% Full
- Wine & Dine Half Marathon – SOLD OUT
- Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K – 51% Full
- Walt Disney World Marathon – 64% Full
- Walt Disney World Half Marathon – SOLD OUT

- Dopey Challenge – SOLD OUT

- On Sale June 11, 2013
- Limited registration available for the Princess & Tinker Bell Coast-to-Coast Challenge
As you can see there aren’t many options left if you’re planning on running Disney this year! If you’re looking for a longer race in 2013, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler looks to be your only option left. This will be the 2nd year of this race and it looks like Disney has been listening to our feedback from last year’s race. Check out this video that was released today:
I’m so glad to hear that they are improving on the entertainment from last year since that was severely lacking. Check out my race recap for more info…now if only they could guarantee it won’t be so hot! Today is the last day to register before the price increases to $165 tomorrow, so get too it! The medal is so worth it 🙂
Make sure to go to www.rundisney.com for more information on all the races or to register for an upcoming race. See you there!
