Fall is beginning to peak here in Connecticut and the chilly temps are taking hold. Sweatshirts and scarves are coming out of hiding and I am trying to remain positive about my cold nose and toes. This weekend I was handed the Northeast Baton as part of The Northeast Bloggers Network. This is a fun project where a different blogger takes over their Instagram account for a weekend to highlight the different areas in the Northeast that we are from. It’s been a really fun project! Here is one of my favorite photos from the weekend…
This week I started my recap of the Disney Fit Challenge with a look at my anticipation leading up to the event, arriving at Walt Disney World and checking-in at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex the night before. It’s a mixed bag of feelings.
Now let’s move on to some runDisney news! This week the 2015-16 race schedule was released and there were noticeably a few things missing. Theories are abuzz around the Internets but only time will tell what all the changes really have in store.
What race or races are you looking forward to running next year?
Hope you’ve been enjoying the coverage from The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend so far. This week’s posts on Running By Myself…Not Really and Fueling for the Big Drop were not only great recaps of the race, but provided many useful tips for running any Disney race. Big thanks to Holly and Shannon for the great info!
While we’re on the topic of tips, John put together a great breakdown of running gear basics. There has been a water bottle debate in the comments and I would love to hear your thoughts.
Lastly now that the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is in full swing, it was perfect that the them of this months Kill, Refurb, Marry was Festival Food Booths. Scotland was hands down my choice to marry…what’s yours??
This week I will have the rest of my recap of the Disney Fit Challenge up, as well as more coverage from Tower of Terror Weekend and Hannah will be checking in with her Mission to Marathon. I know there were a TON of you running this weekend in races all over the country including the Hartford Marathon and the Chicago Marathon. Hope you all had great races and I can’t wait to hear about them.
Have a RAD week!

This weekend was the official kickoff to race weekend at Walt Disney World with The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend! This was my first time not attending this weekend, but I had so much fun following along from afar and cheering everyone on. I had a bunch of “field correspondents” out there this weekend so expect to see some fun posts in the next few weeks! Some great photos have already started coming in, including these from the Happy Haunted 5K Trail Run yesterday morning!
The reason I wasn’t there this weekend was because I decided to participate in the Disney Fit Challenge the weekend before and just got back from my trip. While the event wasn’t all that I expected, but I still had a great time with my friends. I’m still working on my recap and it should be up later this week. Until then, here is me lifting some weights…
- ChEARing at the 2014 Disneyland 10K
- Mission to Marathon: A Long Slow Run

Whoa…we’ve been busy over here at RAD! That’s a lot of Disney and running news and info! And it’s just going to get better…Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend is coming up soon, hopefully a Disneyland Paris race announcement and those Star Wars medals are sure to be revealed soon…oh boy!!
Lastly, I’m going to shamelessly promote my fundraising efforts for Barbells for Boobs again this year. I know that there are TONS of fundraisers going on right now for Breast Cancer Awareness month, but I have an extra incentive to donate to mine. If I reach my goal of $1,200 by November 1st, I’m going to be raffling off this awesome pair of Reebok CrossFit Nano 4.0s!
Told you I was being shameless 🙂 But those are pretty awesome right?! Here’s a link to my fundraising page…even $5 can make a difference…I might be begging…
Coming up this week is another Kill, Refurb, Marry where we take a look at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival Booths, John is back with some running gear pointers, and as I mentioned we will begin coverage of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend. Hope you have a great week!

So the Pixie Dust Challenge early registration sold out in 15 minutes this week. Just when I thought that races couldn’t sell out any faster, they do. It’s quite amazing to see how this has changed in the past few years and I’m constantly baffled by it. Regular registration for Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend open at noon this Tuesday. If you have any hopes of getting into one of the races, particularly the Pixie Dust Challenge, I would be ready and waiting at your computer. Let’s just hope the system don’t crash like it did for the Princess registration!
Speaking of upcoming races in Disneyland, did you see the medals that were revealed for the Avengers Half Marathon Weekend this week? I’m pretty jealous I won’t be getting one of these!
With runDisney race season about to kick into high gear, make sure to check out the great Yoga for Runners tips that Danielle shared this week on Hotel Room Yoga. We first talked about this last year during Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend and given that it is now only less than 3 weeks away, these will definitely help everyone heading out to run that weekend.
This has been a VERY busy week for me full of meetings and projects…all a very good busy! I did take some time to take a look at my favorite things about the CrossFit Games and I also celebrated my 2 year anniversary doing CrossFit. It’s pretty cool to see how far I’ve come!
Lastly I relived my recent Disneyland trip and how I completely have fallen in love with the west coast park. I mean, how can you not love this?!?!
Check back tomorrow where I will have all of the details for you to register for the races over Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend and good luck to everyone who will be waiting to register!
Also coming up this week is another Transformation Tuesday story, a look at Disney animated movie songs in Kill, Refurb, Marry, and John is back with some fun Anaheim Antics! Hope you enjoy and have a great week!!

Well registration for Princess Half Marathon was a slight debacle this week. It seems that Active is having trouble keeping up with the popularity of runDisney events. I hope this gets fixed before the Tink on sale next month!
Were you able to get signed up for the race you wanted? I’m registered for my 2nd Glass Slipper Challenge and my 4th Princess Half…can’t wait!
One thing that has been keeping my head on straight this week has been exercise. This morning I woke up and knew I had to go for a run to clear my head of all the ridiculous thoughts. I went out for 4.5 miles which is the longest training run I’ve done in a while…and I felt GREAT! Energized, strong. Even though my knee was bothering me earlier in the week, I have been wearing KT Tape all week and had no pain today…that is the stuff of miracles!!
See that arrow up there? Apparently my sweat beads on my shoulder. I told my friend Kat and she said it happens all the time when I’m at the gym…so strange! Does anyone else sweat like that?
Speaking of the gym. I’ve made some killer progress this week. I got a 10 pound PR on my front squat bringing it up to 145 pounds and also pulled 90% of my 1 rep max deadlift which went up pretty easy. I hope there is a testing week coming up so I can see what I can do!
So my training for both the Disney Fit Challenge and the Wine & Dine Half Marathon are going really well! I can’t wait to tackle these events 🙂 If you’ve got an upcoming race your training for, I hope you are reading the new Mission to Marathon series that Hannah is writing. This week she talks about planning a runDisney runCation and has some great tips!
Unfortunately there was no Transformation Tuesday this week, but this week Chris will be sharing his story. I also have a great guest post on how to not run yourself into the ground while training. It’s a great piece! And since I will be heading out to Disneyland, I will be sharing some of my favorites eats there!
Have a great week!!

World Cup fever has been going strong in our house for the past month or so. B is a huge Germany fan so having them make it to the finals has been very exciting. Having them win today was AWESOME!!
It’s been a fun and super busy week around here. I started training for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon this week, but I haven’t exactly followed the plan to a tee…shocking! I know I won’t be perfect, but all I can do is keep on trying.
But even if I slack on my runs, it’s not like I’m just sitting around (even though I do my fair share of that sometimes). I’m still throwing around some kick ass weights at the gym 🙂
This week also consisted of fun birthday celebrations for friends and family.
And one of my favorite dining days of the year…this is the 4th year B and I have enjoyed this BBQ feast and yes, it is worth every single calorie!
But the big news of the week is…I’M GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!!
Well what really happened was that I won a contest and I’m going to the CrossFit Games! No, really…I won an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles! I was convinced that no one won contests like this, but boy was I wrong! It’s pretty much a dream come true. So of course I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to visit Disneyland if I was flying all the way out to California! I’ll have a few fun posts in the next 10 days leading up to the trip…so fun!
In case you missed some of the other fun happenings on RAD this week, Crystal shared her transformation story, I played Kill, Marry, Refurb by taking a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and John gave a humorous male perspective on Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend. Hope you enjoy and also I hope you have a rad week…make it a great one!
