I’m not going to lie…I’m not adequately prepared for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon in two weeks.
Am I nervous? Not really. I haven’t done any long runs in my training and I’m basically relying on my CrossFit training to take me through. I believe in my training and know that I am strong enough to tackle this race. Would I recommend doing this? Probably not. I’m sure I will experience knee pain and horrible soreness after the race because my body simply not used to pounding the pavement for that long, but that’s ok. I’m not looking to break any records…I’m just looking forward to having a good time!
I’ve been really busy these past few weeks which is why I’ve been a tad quiet around the Internets. I knew that starting a new business was going to take a lot of time, but I think I underestimated just how much. Don’t get me wrong, I’m LOVING every second of it, however some things just have to give while I get projects underway. Everything is a learning curve…including time management!
I’m lucky to have such a great community of running friends out there to keep things rolling as I get settled. I’m hoping you have been enjoying their adventures as much as I have.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend coverage has been going strong here on RAD. There were a TON of first timer participating in one of the races that weekend and it looks like we have a lot of new recruits in the runDisney world. Here are some stories that you might have missed:
- Prepping for a Night Race vs. a Morning Race
- A Terrifyingly RAD First runDisney Race!
- A First Time Disney Runner Gets In The Race Spirit
- The Villain’s Bash! A Terrifyingly Fun 10-Miler After Party
- A Magical First 5K
Hannah’s monthly Mission to Marathon column gave some useful advice for helping all of us get through the upcoming holiday season. With parties, pies and cold weather in our future, it’s good to go into the season with a game plan. Also this month was the second installment of the new Running Coast to Coast series and Joe shared his experience this year taking on the WDW Marathon and the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge.
To get a taste of what I’ve been doing lately, I recently recapped the Disney Fit Challenge that I competed in last month. It’s full of jumping, weightlifting and giraffe butts?!? Well you’ll just have to check it out to see what I mean 🙂
In these next two weeks leading up to Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, I’m going to put together all the race information for you along with some info on the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. I mean that’s the real reason why we’re running right? Guilt free eating around World Showcase! I’ll be down in the World November 6-10 and would love to say hi so let me know if you will be around 🙂
Have a great week!

Fall is beginning to peak here in Connecticut and the chilly temps are taking hold. Sweatshirts and scarves are coming out of hiding and I am trying to remain positive about my cold nose and toes. This weekend I was handed the Northeast Baton as part of The Northeast Bloggers Network. This is a fun project where a different blogger takes over their Instagram account for a weekend to highlight the different areas in the Northeast that we are from. It’s been a really fun project! Here is one of my favorite photos from the weekend…
This week I started my recap of the Disney Fit Challenge with a look at my anticipation leading up to the event, arriving at Walt Disney World and checking-in at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex the night before. It’s a mixed bag of feelings.
Now let’s move on to some runDisney news! This week the 2015-16 race schedule was released and there were noticeably a few things missing. Theories are abuzz around the Internets but only time will tell what all the changes really have in store.
What race or races are you looking forward to running next year?
Hope you’ve been enjoying the coverage from The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend so far. This week’s posts on Running By Myself…Not Really and Fueling for the Big Drop were not only great recaps of the race, but provided many useful tips for running any Disney race. Big thanks to Holly and Shannon for the great info!
While we’re on the topic of tips, John put together a great breakdown of running gear basics. There has been a water bottle debate in the comments and I would love to hear your thoughts.
Lastly now that the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is in full swing, it was perfect that the them of this months Kill, Refurb, Marry was Festival Food Booths. Scotland was hands down my choice to marry…what’s yours??
This week I will have the rest of my recap of the Disney Fit Challenge up, as well as more coverage from Tower of Terror Weekend and Hannah will be checking in with her Mission to Marathon. I know there were a TON of you running this weekend in races all over the country including the Hartford Marathon and the Chicago Marathon. Hope you all had great races and I can’t wait to hear about them.
Have a RAD week!

This weekend was the official kickoff to race weekend at Walt Disney World with The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend! This was my first time not attending this weekend, but I had so much fun following along from afar and cheering everyone on. I had a bunch of “field correspondents” out there this weekend so expect to see some fun posts in the next few weeks! Some great photos have already started coming in, including these from the Happy Haunted 5K Trail Run yesterday morning!
The reason I wasn’t there this weekend was because I decided to participate in the Disney Fit Challenge the weekend before and just got back from my trip. While the event wasn’t all that I expected, but I still had a great time with my friends. I’m still working on my recap and it should be up later this week. Until then, here is me lifting some weights…
- ChEARing at the 2014 Disneyland 10K
- Mission to Marathon: A Long Slow Run
- Running Coast to Coast and the First Time Running in Walt’s Footsteps

Whoa…we’ve been busy over here at RAD! That’s a lot of Disney and running news and info! And it’s just going to get better…Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend is coming up soon, hopefully a Disneyland Paris race announcement and those Star Wars medals are sure to be revealed soon…oh boy!!
Lastly, I’m going to shamelessly promote my fundraising efforts for Barbells for Boobs again this year. I know that there are TONS of fundraisers going on right now for Breast Cancer Awareness month, but I have an extra incentive to donate to mine. If I reach my goal of $1,200 by November 1st, I’m going to be raffling off this awesome pair of Reebok CrossFit Nano 4.0s!
Told you I was being shameless 🙂 But those are pretty awesome right?! Here’s a link to my fundraising page…even $5 can make a difference…I might be begging…
Coming up this week is another Kill, Refurb, Marry where we take a look at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival Booths, John is back with some running gear pointers, and as I mentioned we will begin coverage of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend. Hope you have a great week!

This is always a crappy week for me. 13 years have gone by and that one day still continues to have such a strong impact in my life. Each year gets better but it’s never easy. Much love to all my family and friends out there who have supported me through the years <3
Moving on to the lighter topics of Disney news. WTF is up with this Frozen attraction replacing Maelstrom business?? This is making me slightly irate! I love Frozen….no seriously, it’s one of my favorite Disney movies ever. Awkward Anna is like me in character form. However, a character based ride like this does NOT belong in the World Showcase. First, World Showcase is supposed to “showcase” (hence the name!) the culture of the countries…I’m pretty sure Arendelle is not a real place, so no. Second, can you imagine the bottleneck traffic this is going to cause?!?!?! Norway is not a large pavilion and Maelstrom even has queues that go out into the square. Can you imagine this business?!? Blech. This belongs in Fantasyland, NOT World Showcase.
OK, clearly I need to move on from my frustrations because I could go on for days! Let’s talk about the Disneyland Half Marathon! This week I featured 2 great recaps of the 2014 Disneyland Half Marathon. The first was from a back of the packer (like me!) who made some amazing friendships along the way. And the second was from a first time runDisney runner AND half marathoner…so fun to see this race through her eyes!
It’s hard to believe that it’s now less than two weeks until the Disney Fit Challenge. I’m going a little crazy that the WODs haven’t been announced yet, but hopefully that will happen in the next few days. In the meantime, to clearly NOT prepare, I’ve been indulging in some local food and drink. Yesterday, B and I went on another super fun Taste of New Haven tour where we sampled food and drink from some of New Haven’s best establishments, as well as learned a lot about the city’s rich history along the way. Oh and of course I had to take a photo with one of the locals…
Lastly, I want to hear from you. First, what Disney Parks Transportation would you Kill, Refurb or Marry? Any idea on where the monorail falls in my picks?
Then, I want to know how how you stay fit on vacation. My friend John LOVED the fitness centers at the Animal Kingdom Lodge during his most recent trip. I want to know what you do!
I also want to know who is excited about the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival! I know I sure am…it’s my favorite time of the year!! I’ve been studying the DFB Guide to the 2014 International Food & Wine Festival in preparation for my trip in 2 weeks and it is making me SO excited for all the new stuff I can try this year. Have you checked it out yet?
Make sure to come back this week as I will have more coverage of the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend and Hannah will have more tips from her Mission to Marathon series! Oh and I might have some Food & Wine Festival tips…I just can’t help myself but talk about all the foodie awesomeness!!
Have a great week!

Well it is unofficially Fall, but strangely it’s been one of the hottest weeks of the year…go figure! However if you are in Walt Disney World you would think that the Fall and Halloween are in full swing. All of the decorations are up, the merchandise is out and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party has started. I took a look at all of the festivities this week because it is officially my favorite time of year in Walt Disney World!
This week began coverage of Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend with a fun recap of the Disneyland 5K from a RAD reader named Minnie…how fun is that?!
The next 2+ weeks will be filled with coverage of Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend including more race recaps, spectator coverage and first time runDisney experiences. I can’t wait to hear all about it!
My week has been, well interesting. I had a run in with a pharmacy tech that made me question if honesty is always the best policy…
I also took a trip down the Sebastian River and saw manatee and gator…oh my!
Finally, I was joined by a Robin who shared he transformation story this week and I put together a recap of all of Danielle’s Yoga for Runners posts from the past few months since she’s taking the month off. So many great tips there!
I’m looking forward to a week of training for the Disney Fit Challenge…it’s only 3 weeks away! I really need to start jumping on some boxes and getting some runs in. Even 3 weeks of endurance building will be a big help.
Hope you have a great week!
