3 Years of Running at Disney

It’s kind of hard for me to believe that I started Running at Disney three years ago.  This blog has gone through quite the transformation over the years.  I started Running at Disney as a way to hold myself accountable while training for my first half marathon.  Now after completing 8 half marathons, 1 full marathon and numerous other races it’s fun to take a step back and revisit the journey.  Like the first time I ran 6 miles.  Or when I ran the Walt Disney World Marathon.  Or when I visited Disneyland for the first time.

As my goals have changed, so has Running at Disney.  This blog is no longer about me, but about the community.  I strive to be a useful resource about runDisney and Disney in general and I have really enjoyed opening up this forum to members of the community to help in those efforts.  I can’t wait to share more of your stories this year!!

To celebrate, I put together a bunch of goodies to giveaway for one lucky winner!

Although terrified, I know this will be an amazing journey. I am a huge pin collector so I would love to win the runDisney pin. If I don’t win, where can I buy it?

Congrats! My favorite runDisney moment would be completing my first rundisney race (WDW half marathon 2014). I completely fell in love with the races and have already completed my coast2coast challenge and am headed back to WDL in 2 weeks for the Rebel Challenge!

  22. My favorite runDisney moment is when I crossed the finish line for my first ever race at the Princess Half in 2010.

  23. My favorite runDisney moment will be hopefully completing my first race a week from today – the WDW Marathon weekend 10K. So excited! Congrats on 3 years! I recently found your blog in search of more info. Love it – Thank you!

  24. i am running my first half in February-Disney’s Princess Run! I am SO excited! Looking forward to the memories that will be made!

  25. One of my favorite moments was running into you during W&D 😉 it’s hard to pick a favorite, I love all my “firsts”. My first ever rundisney race (haunted 5k in 2012), my first 10k (WDW 10k, which is the first race I actually ran instead of walking, and why I started running in the first place!) and of course my first half (even running it in the rain.) signed up for 3 race weekends already this year & can’t wait!

I can’t believe it’s been 3 years! You & your site has been such a valuable resource as I moved up the various race distances

  26. My favorite runDisney moment was crossing the finish line at Tinker Bell Half Marathon in 2014. It was my first runDisney race and I was so excited to finish it.

  27. No favorite moments yet, but my wife and I are hoping to run the Wine and Dine Half in November for our 5th Anniversary and came across your site. Keep up the good work!

  28. My favorite moment was happily finishing the Wine and Dine Half Marathon this past November. It was my very first race, and I have my sights set on Dopey for 2016!

  29. I am running my 1st rundisney event next month!!! The DPHM! I have been training since September & can’t wait to run this!

  30. No favorite moments yet, been reading your website for a while trying to get up the courage to push myself and runDisney. Doing my first half marathon in May at the Indy Mini marathon and going to sign up for Wine & Dine.

  31. I’m running the half at disney this weekend and I’m extremely excited/nervous but everything I’ve read makes me think it’s going to be great!

  32. I don’t have a favorite RunDisney moment of my own yet since PHM weekend will not only be my first RunDisney race but also my first Half! I have loved over the past few years seeing all the race weekend pictures and reading everyone’s race recaps, it’s definitely gave me the inspiration to run my first half at WDW!

  33. I started to say running the Tinkerbell Half with my sister, but I think the best was watching my sister get her C2C after wine & dine this year. I got mine back in February but she couldn’t run Princess with me. So proud and excited for her!

  34. Earning my C2C medal with my mom by my side at DDD in 2014!

  35. My favorite runDisney moment was BEATING THE SAG WAGON with about a minute to spare at Mile 10 of my first Princess.

  36. My favorite runDisney moment was participating in (and finishing) the Tower of Terror 10 miler, my first, but certainly not my last Disney race! 🙂

  37. This will be my 3rd year running on WDW Marathon weekend. 1st time did the Goofy & last yr and this yr the Dopey Challenge. Lots of fun.

  38. Completing the Dopey challenge last year!

  39. great giveaway!

Favorite runDisney moment so far was at Avengers Half in November. Standing by the finish line watching the final runner come in, one of the cast members told me the final runner was coming in. Apparently she had fallen somewhere on the course and anothe runner stopped to help and stayed with her til she finished. The Avengers came down and walked the women across the finish line! Confetti went off and the woman was given her medal by a volunteer who had been the last finisher in another runDisney race. The sportsmanship of all the runner never fails to amaze me and Disney turned the whole thing into a magical moment!!

  40. I have run two Disney races so far: Everest Challenge 2014 and Tower of Terror 2014, I’m glad I got to experiance these before they were taken off the schedule. I will be running my first ever marathon at Disney next January (I deferred my entry from this year) and hope to do the Wine & Dine in November! There is nothing like the motivation from a Run Disney race!

  41. My favorite moment was running down Main Street during the 2014 marathon!

  42. My favorite runDisney moment was getting registered! I run my first Disney race next month: Princess Half!

  43. My favorite RunDisney moments come down to the costumes: seeing all the great outfits, wearing a creative homemade costume and having onlookers and fellow runners cheer for my character, and the fun photos afterward.

  44. Congrats on your runnaversary!
