2015-16 runDisney Race Calendar Released With Some Holes…

runDisney has released the 2015-16 race calendar and there are some things noticeably missing.

2015-16 runDisney Calendar

The most glaring hole in the schedule is the removal of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend.  Most likely  the reason for this is that Disney’s Hollywood Studios seems to be in the beginning stages of a major renovation.  The Backlot Studio Tour recently closed and it is rumored that others are soon to follow.  This time next year, the Studios could be under major construction which will not work for a race through the park or an after party.  This makes me wonder if the Wine & Dine Half Marathon course will change for 2015.

While this is the reason that logically makes the most sense, it makes me wonder if runDisney is taking a break from racing in WDW that weekend because they are going to host the first Disneyland Paris Half Marathon.  Remember these pins?  They say September 2015…the mystery continues…

The other hole in the schedule that might not be as noticeable is the absence of the Expedition Everest Challenge for 2016. This is the one WDW race weekend I haven’t participated in yet, so obviously it is now a priority for me.  I want to experience this event before it gets eliminated, so May 2015…I’m coming for ya!

What races are a priority for you in 2015-16?

  1. I’m pretty bummed about Tower of Terror, I was going to try and do that one next year. Maybe I’ll go for Wine and Dine instead.

I’d like to be able to do Expedition Everest at some point, but there’s no way I can justify it in 2015 since I’m already doing Goofy, Glass Slipper Challenge and Pixie Dust Challenge. Four runDisney events in four months time is not something my bank account or vacation days would support.
