RAD Reads and Weekly Review: March 10, 2013

It’s been hard be back to reality this week, but I’ve pretty much managed to get back into my daily routine. It snowed AGAIN here in CT, but thankfully it didn’t stick around long since it’s been in the 50s this weekend!  Crazy…

I WANT SPRING!

I WANT SPRING!

Today I’m headed to the New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade for some fun with my CrossFit girls.  It’s bound to be full of ridiculousness so make sure to follow along on Instagram 🙂

I’ve had some fun stuff going up on RAD this week, including my Princess recap.  Here’s what you might have missed:

Now let’s check out some RAD Reads I found this week!

First, if you are a fan of posting pictures on social media like I am, you need to read these 2 posts from SoCal Runner Gal and Gabby’s Gluten-Free about the reality behind your photos.  I LOVE this and will absolutely be doing a post like Gabby’s in the future 🙂

Running & Fitness Posts
We Run Disney‘s Christine learned some great lessons from the Princess Half.

Who me, run? was one of 324 women to complete the Princess Half Marathon for all 5 years.  Congrats Megan on being a Perfect Princess!!

Powercakes recaps the CrossFit Games Open WOD 13.1.  This looks SO hard.

Live, Run, Grow steps outside of her comfort zone and credits it to running a marathon…pretty awesome!

Disney Posts
The Magical World Of… lists her top 5 characters who she would like to share a pint with.  Mine would definitely be Thomas O’Malley and the Scat Cat Band!  And then martinis with Duchess because she’s too fancy for a pint 😉

Parkscope shares his thoughts on Disney Springs coming to Downtown Disney.

Sparkly Ever After shares more of those fun Disney Starbucks menus…love these!

WDW for Grownups looks at the art of Disney towel animals.

Disney Every Day ordered 12 items off of the Splitsville menu and has the mouthwatering photos to prove it!

The Disney Food Blog reviews Monsieur Paul in France at Epcot.

Weekly Review
Thankfully I got out of my funk this week and got some killer workouts in at the box.  Here are my workouts and to see my full WODs, head over to my page on dailymile.

Sunday: Rest
Monday: CrossFit: Power Cleans, KB Swings, Push Ups & Row
Tuesday: CrossFit: Squats, squats and more squats
Wednesday: Rest due to a dentist appointment
Thursday: CrossFit: Snatches, Wall Balls, Push Ups & Air Dyne
Friday: Snow Shoveling
Saturday: Rest

I’ve been wanting to get a foam roller for a while to use at home, so I went to Sports Authority yesterday to get one and was shocked to find out they cost $30.  Really??  $30 for a piece of foam??  That’s a little ridiculous.  At CrossFit, we use PVC pipes for rollers, so I headed on over to Home Depot and got this pre-cut 2 foot piece of PVC pipe for $6.  Hell yeah…getting sports equipment at a hardware store!

$6 PVC Pipe FTW!

$6 PVC Pipe FTW!

I just realized from this picture that the pipe says “Not For Pressure.”  Oh well!

And last but certainly not least…the winner of my Sparkly Soul Giveaway!!!  I used random.org to select a winner from the comments on the original post to select the winner.

  2. $30 is alot for a foam roller unless it’s one of those “specialty” ones. I thought someone had told me Target had them for around $14. Try looking there.

  3. Man! I just ordered a sparkly to try out! Missed the awesome discount!

  4. I’m borrowing your weekly recap review if you don’t mind!

  5. Thanks for including our post! Loved your PVC roller purchase! I bought an expensive foam roller, but it does gets daily use and I was not smart enough to think of PVC!
