I LOVE long weekends. I’m a firm believer that every weekend should be 3 days for ultimate relaxation from a stressful week. This weekend, I did a lot of this:
Those pool floats got a lot of use as well. Maybe after a few more months of Crossfit I’ll be more inclined to post a picture of myself on one in a bathing suit, but for now you get my feet.
Today was the Disneyland Half Marathon and it has been so fun following everyone on Twitter. I really have to commend runDisney for the wonderful job they are doing to keep all of us spectators updated on their new website and through their Twitter account. The winner, Jimmy Gabrow, finish in an amazing time of 1:05:28 and breaking the course record! That is a 5 minute per mile pace, which is something I can’t even wrap my head around. The top female finisher was Cindy Lynch, who finished at an equally impressive time of 1:24:45. You can view all the results of the race here. Overall, I want to send a big CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who ran today…you are all rockstars!
When I haven’t been floating in the pool or obsessively watching the Disneyland Half results, I’ve been reading some great blogs from this week. I think you’ll enjoy all of the RAD Reads I’ve found!

Well, it’s been a great week 🙂 I finished my Crossfit on ramp on Thursday and I started running again this weekend. For once, I’m happy to report that I’m feeling great with both! Here’s my week of training and as always you can see my full workouts over on dailymile:
Monday: CrossFit – 1 hour (.75 miles)
Wednesday: CrossFit – 1 hour
Thursday: CrossFit – 1 hour (.5 miles)
Saturday: 4 mile run
Crossfit is continuing to push my limits and I’m LOVING it. I’m beginning to feel strong for the first time in my life and I’m also enjoying exercise. I never thought that would be possible…ever. I also think that it is helping with my running. I haven’t gone for a run in almost a month and I felt stronger yesterday than I have in a long time. Since Crossfit combines strength training with endurance, I’m getting the best of both worlds. Evidence of this was seen first hand this morning by my good friend Jenn from Eat, Sleep, Run, Disney. Jenn has been killing it in Crossfit since the spring, but like me has been slacking in her training runs this summer. She registered last minute for the Disneyland Half Marathon and didn’t have high hopes for getting a good time. Well guess who PR’d by 3 minutes?!?! That is some serious #proof right there. Congrats girl!
I also have to thank my awesome chiropractor for all of the running tips. This week I really focused on my foot strike and my posture during the run, both of which helped…a lot. I kept finding myself hunched over and looking down, especially as I got more fatigued. I then consciously tried to keep my shoulders down and back with my head up looking about 15 feet ahead of me. I immediately felt like I could breath easier and move more effortlessly. The adjustments have also helped to seriously minimize my neck pain and hopefully getting my straight neck curved again. I’d highly recommend seeing a chiropractor who specializes in athletes if you’re looking to improve your running posture and run more efficiently. Thanks again Pam for the referral 🙂
So I’m on the upswing, let’s hope this momentum keeps up. I’m excited and motivated to become the healthiest (and sexiest) I’ve ever been! Strong is the new skinny my friends, so let’s forget about the scale and focus on those muscles.
