August?! Say it ain’t so! The summer is going by so fast. It’s been hot and humid here in the Northeast…perfect for sitting in the air conditioning and catching up on some RAD Reads!

Compared to last week, this one has been uneventful. I’m continuing to fight with the pain in my lower legs, which after some research I’ve figured is posterior shin splints. The pain was so bad this week that I had to walk almost a mile home when out for a run because I couldn’t take it anymore. Ice temporarily helps the pain, but as soon as I run again it comes back. The key to preventing this and avoiding pain in the future is to strengthen the muscles in the area. There are simple daily stretches that I will be doing to hopefully avoid serious injury. I’ve also seen a lot about KT Tape and how it helps with this particular ailment. I’ve ordered a roll and will be testing that out as well. So please don’t laugh when you see me walking around with purple stripes on my legs 😉
Here’s my week of exercise:
Monday: Spinning – 1 hour
Wednesday: 3.12 mile run
Friday: 2.62 mile run
Saturday: CrossFit Intro Class – 60 minutes
Tomorrow begins my On Ramp with CrossFit. I attended another intro class this weekend and I’m even more excited to get this started. The classes make me feel strong and I can’t wait to get even stronger! Have a great week!
