Updated Course Map Released for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon

An updated course map was recently released for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon taking place on November 10, 2012.  Most of the course is the same, except for the finish line.

The race begins at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at 10:00 pm.  Runners will get familiar with Osceola Parkway on the way to Animal Kingdom and then back as they head towards Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  The last few miles are ran around Crescent Lake and then the course goes into Epcot…yes, I said INTO Epcot.  This is very exciting because last year’s finish was very anti-climactic as it went from Crescent Lake, through the backstage of Future World and into the Epcot parking lot.  Runners didn’t get a chance to run through Epcot and there was a very limited area for spectators at the finish line.  Spectators are a huge part of racing and really help to encourage the racers.  Having the course go through Epcot will now allow for that big finish that had been lacking in this race.

This will be my first time running the Wine & Dine Half Marathon and I’m really excited for the changes that have been made.  It’s great to know that Disney is making improvements to this race every year and listening to the feedback from both the runners and the spectators.  Now, can we get some Guinness at the finish line? ;)

As of July 9th, the Wine & Dine Half Marathon was 86% full.  If you’re interested in running, register now!

What do you think of the changes to the course for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon?

One Response to Updated Course Map Released for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon

  1. I ran this last year and remember being too excited with the colorful spectacle at the finish line to notice that I hadn’t run into Epcot. In other words, I’m sure this year’s runners will appreciate the tiny, but meaningful change. Have fun!
