I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July. It’s been a strange week with the holiday on a Wednesday, but I’m not going to complain because a day off is a day off! My Google reader has gotten a little out of control (what’s new!), but I’ve managed to find some RAD Reads that I hope you’ll enjoy.

As I’ve mentioned, I’m currently resting due to my new ankle injury. Blech! However, I did get a few days of toning in there and I think I might actually be starting to enjoy it…who would’ve thought. Maybe it’s because I’m starting to feel and see the effects and that’s encouraging
Here’s my total week of exercise:
Sunday: 2.1 mile run
Monday: Pilates – 30 minutes
Thursday: Full body circuit – 4o minutes
I created a full body this circuit this week by taking some of my favorite exercises from all different place and meshing them together into a well rounded workout. Here’s what I did:
This whole circuit kicked my butt and I was sweating halfway through the first round. To make it a bit more challenging on the next go around, I will probably add more reps to the arm exercises and hold weights while doing the squats and lunges. Let me know what you think if you give it a try!
Last week I only lost 0.6 pounds towards my lose a marathon challenge. Not what I was hoping, but at least it was a loss. I really need to wrangle in my eating on the weekends. I eat very well and regimented during the week and then all bets are off on the weekend. Take yesterday for example…pizza, fro-yo, barbecue, banana pudding, oh my! Maybe just one of those things would be ok, but not all. All of the work that I do during the week gets erased and then I’m not seeing any results during my weigh-ins on Monday. I need to cut my indulgences back to one meal on the weekends…just one! Fingers crossed I’ll have the will power, but my love affair with food always seems to win over my quest to drop the pounds.
Given the crazy heatwave this week, I picked a good one to be resting. I’m going to give my ankle a few more days of rest then pick up a Spinning class on Wednesday and begin running again on Saturday. Most importantly, I’m going to keep focusing on strength training so I can hopefully avoid any other injuries in the next 27 weeks of training.
