Both programs were designed by runDisney Training Consultant Jeff Galloway, one of the nation’s leading running experts. Jeff has a proven and safe method of training that has help thousands of runners cross the finish line injury free. He was a member of the 1972 Olympic team, has coached over 200,000 runners, and has authored numerous running publications. The programs were developed in 1978 with a combination of run-walk intervals taking place only 3 days a week. Not only does this put less strain on the body, but it is also very easy to fit in to the busiest of schedules. I have been using this method for the past 4 months and it has increased both my endurance and speed.
The training programs are 28-weeks long and are very easy to follow. There are a few different plan options available. One for beginners to these distances and other for experts (those running for longer than 6 months) looking to finish either in the upright position or who are looking to achieve a new time goal. runDisney even provides an option to download the schedule directly to your calendar, so you will never miss a run!
Training for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon begins on September 4, 2012 so mark your calendars if you are registered for that race! Remember, these races are filling up fast, so if you’re not already registered…hop to it!
