My Virtual Goodie Bag!
|February 9, 2012||Posted by Running at Disney under Princess Half Marathon Weekend|
A few days ago I received my race instructions for Disney’s Princess Half Marathon. This included information on how to get my race number, how to get around on race weekend, final training tips, and some additional events that are taking place that weekend. But I thought the most interesting thing that was included was the Virtual Goodie Bag! When you pick up your race packet, you are given a bag full of goodies, including coupons, snacks and gels, and this virtual version lets you take advantage of some of these things prior to even arriving at the Expo. When I opened my goodie bag, I was greeted by a carousel of coupons and information.
Here’s a look at what’s inside:
Women’s Health Screening Guide
This is actually a very helpful guide from Celebration Hospital that lists numerous screening tests, such as bone, thyroid, and reproductive. It then lists the frequency you should get these tests based on different age brackets.
Well of course Disney is going to plug their upcoming races. This is promoting the Disneyland Half Marathon in September. I think they should have included information on the Coast to Coast Challenge here. There is also a link to download mobile wallpaper included.
Princesses & Fairies
I didn’t even know these magazines existed, but here you can access free online stories from Disney Princess and Disney Fairies Magazines. Once you click on the links, you are obviously encouraged to subscribe to the magazines.
I’m not a big grapefruit fan, so this doesn’t really appeal to me. Included is a coupon for $1 off (big bucks!) of Florida Grapefruit juice or a 3-lb bag of grapefruits. You can also download a Grapefruit Active Lifestyle Meal Plan. No it’s not like the Grapefruit Diet from the 70s.
This provides you with a free download of Jeff Galloway’s “Final Countdown” running tips and Geico’s mobile app. Also, if you would like to torture your friends, you can download one of Geico’s ringtones.
Now this is a great giveaway. Enter to win $150 towards iFitness products! I’ve had my eye on that double water bottle belt and would love to get it for free. The only downside is that you can only enter the contest once. I also with there was a coupon included.
Here’s another giveaway to win a Craisins gift pack. It doesn’t say what’s in the gift pack, but who doesn’t love a free bag of dried cranberries? There is also a link to a recipe for a spinich, goat cheese & craisin salad…yum!
Jeff Galloway Tips
Jeff Galloway is the official runDisney training consultant and here he offers a free download of his race recovery tips. He provides information on what to do before, during and after the race to maximize your body’s recovery efforts. This includes compression sleeves, cold baths and nutrition.
Last but not least is the Princess Half Marathon Coupons & Offers button, where there were 4 additional coupons!
This is a coupon for $10 off a $150 purchase or $20 off a purchase of over $150. Products are commemorative frames to display your medal, bib and photo. The only catch is that the coupon is only good if used at the Princess Expo prior to the race.
Fond Memories Graphics
Here is another coupon for a discount on display frames and shadow boxes for your race mementos. Only this is a MUCH better coupon. It is for $26 off any item and you can use it online at anytime. The frames aren’t as ornate, but I actually like them better.
Brightroom Order Information
Brightroom is the company that takes all of the photos and video from the Disney races. This link will take you to their site where you can pre-order your race photo package for $99. The 5K package is $69.
Althea Iron Girl Coupon
Last but not least is a coupon for $10 off the $95 registration fee for the Althea Iron Girl Clearwater Half Marathon on April 22, 2012. Unfortunately, I don’t live in Florida, otherwise I would take advantage of this coupon. I need to save my airfare money for Disney races!
Well, that’s a lot of information! Some offers were good and some were lackluster. I was hoping for more coupons on running gear and accessories, you know things I will get a lot of use out of. But overall I think this is a great idea and I’m now excited to see what will be in the actual goodie bag. I hope runDisney keeps this up and adds even more offers for future races!
So what do you think of the virtual goodie bag? Do you think the coupons and offers are good or should they have offered more?
